This is what I was told in the Ponte End today. Two men who had been chatting to him pre match said that he told them that he had been advised by his solicitors not to play. Apparently he was very down as he did not know when he would be able to play play in the future. He was sitting i the corner stand.

I can't see anybody wanting to buy him

Surely not until he has proved he can play after his injury.

I find it hard to believe that Hume would even think about having such a conversation with a group of spectators.

i can;'t imagine that is true. legal cases tend to take years, so they're saying that Hume should sit on the sidelines until then? That would only make sense if their case revolved around Hume having to retire as a result of his injuries, but I very much doubt that is the case given that he's already back in training and therefore clearly hasn't had to retire.

as mentioned in this thread, it's probably to do with him not being match fit - and the fact we'll probably bring him back vs Man City when there's a much larger crowd to welcome him onto the pitch

I assume all players are insured by the club.

My guess is that may well be difficult for Hume to get insurance against injury.

I hope I'm wrong here and being totally pessimistic I don't think he'll play again at this level.

He'll play and will prove his doubters wrong.
He's been given the all clear from his Doctors according to reports.
He is ok to take part in full training.
If the problem is, his insurance, then the Club have to get it right.
Until they do, he cant play.
I reckon that it was a huge rumourmongering rumour going around today and now I have had chance to get it in perspective, I think it will be most probably an insurance issue.
Hope we see him back sooner rather than later.
    He deserves it.
It will be brilliant to see him in a Reds shirt again.
    He has suffered enough.

    RE: you are wrong mate

    I hope your right!

But it would be a brave doctor who would agree to a player who has suffered such a severe head injury being allowed to play again.

I hope you are right. He will have to get insurance - a doctor will have to pass him fit to play. It will be a brave doctor who does that.

He's been taking part in full training and full contact.
Some Doctor or Doctors must have given him the ok.
When I asked my own GP, who sadly is a Blade, he said that there is no reason why Hume should not get back to his best.
His biggest challenge is the psychological one and he seems to be a pretty strong character.
I think he will overcome it and hope he does.

Tina if he does get the all clear to play and then as a setback it could affect the club claiming on the insurance ,i think thats why they are holding him back

I had a feeling that it might be something like that but was hoping it could be something quite simple. The Club can't take any chances and if it means him sitting out for a bit longer then all well and good. It will be better for all concerned.
