He was always going to reel a few Horwich supporters in after applauding them when leaving the field today and cupping his ear at them.

I enjoyed watching him today for the most part. Could have made better decisions once or twice, but the effort was there and in a system that clearly suits him he’s a much better BFC player.

    Still wouldn’t retain him, however.

A fortnight since I’d have said let him go but I’d now prefer us to keep him with the new 433. Not sure we will though given his salary.

Not for me am afraid. he doesn’t read the game, plays give and goes but doesn't go and guilty today of a couple of failures to chase back when losing the ball. He is a decent player at times but those times are too few. Were not blessed with mega talent so going forward will be about workrate and thats not his game..

I genuinely don’t mean this to get folks backs up and I respect everyone has an opinion and mine is just that aswell, but I’ve read on here a fair few times about Humphrys and his work rate . I’ve never once thought he was a lazy sod and didn’t look bothered - I’ve been watching us for over 40 years and have seen a fair few who could’ve been charged with the non triers rule and for me he isn’t one of them. Opinions and all that!

It’s all well and good folk saying ‘flog him, get shut of so and so, cancel his contract’ but at that rate we’ll get a game es sens! We’re clearly not dripping in surplus cash so why don’t we wait and see till a manager is signed who he thinks is good enough?

We gave Mr Clarke 8 months and he didn’t have a clue on his best players, formation or subs…..a think here lays a big problem with this season

Only criticism today was not playing across the box for Phillips after a great lung busting run , other than that couldn’t fault his effort and passion

And his absolute shithousery towards the Bolton fans earned him another 12 month contract

I totally agree, he's put a shift in most games, but when the service is so poor it just goes unnoticed much of the time.

Forget the potential salary costs - can a lad of his relative experience at this level be replaced with similar?

I don’t mind him - he’s not a striker, but we all know that. He is frustrating at times - but that’s why he’s L1. I think with no Philips alongside him next year, that’ll give him a greater freedom role which he’ll thrive on.

For the right salary, I’d be happy for him to have another season with us. But he has to be realistic with his demands.

But, he’s 27 - so if he can get more elsewhere, then I wouldn’t knock him for it.

I don’t have a problem with him, he’s been played out of position most games, I don’t see the laziness part that much either. He’s had poor games definitely, but no more than anyone else. I think he causes more problems wide than any of the other options we have, much more likely to chip in with a goal than having any of the ‘wingbacks’ playing. I’d like to see how he does for the remainder.

Started his season off incredibly well to the put where I was wondering how we’d got him. Then his performance levels have clearly dropped for quite a few months since the start of 2025 but now he’s looking a player again. He was ill quite a bit at the start of 2025, maybe that was a reason? Maybe he’s playing for a contract now? I guess none of us will really know.

If we are going to play him at left wing next season and his wages aren’t too bad, I would 100% keep him. He’s quick, strong, goes past people, gets shots off and can be feisty. Wages will probably be an issue though.

I think there was 2 lining up for it if he had squared it dkd and Phillips I think. I get he really wanted to score but should have just passed it.

I assume we are going to trigger the option to keep him for another year, else why would we play him now when we could be giving some young lads their opportunity.
He's not my kind of player, too selfish at times and needs to rest a lot in order to 'go again'. Not really lazy but is carrying a bit of muscle which makes him more akin to a sprinter (run hard/rest) than an O'Keefe type player who has more constant live-wire energy but less talent. I think we could sign better but then again I don't trust us to do so.

We've already got a temporary manager who thinks Humphrys is good enough, and recent games suggest that he is right. I think we should make Hourihane's appointment permanent and retain Humphrys.

For the first time in ages I saw Humphrys on the left and Jalo on the right both prepared to go for it.
What a refreshing change it made.

I think on the occasions we’ve looked ok this season is when we’ve played with width, there left back in the first half was all over show

Humphrey’s and Russell are enigma’s to me both are more than capable of doing really well at this level but sometimes look disinterested and lazy but I’m hoping Hourihane can get them performing more consistently.
