i've given my fair share of stick to this lad over the last couple of weeks, but i think i now have to make an apology to him.</p>

my answer to the question i just asked - would be hell yes!</p>

an average league 2 player cannot possibly turn down a move to championship team, irrespective of whether he is up to that standard of not. his performances so far have been nothing short of shocking and at the moment he simply isnt up to this standard. next season if we're in league 1 it might be different, but we will have to wait and see.</p>

anyway, what im trying to say is; we cant blame the players for being so poor. Davey has brought these players in, so the blame lies entirely with him.</p>

i dont know what everyone else thinks, but thats just my take on the mattis situation. </p>

Certainly can't blame Mattis..

and its not his fault that he's being played at a level he's not ready for. Its whoever scouted him and told us that he was good enough - be it Davey, Kidd, Wilkinson, or whoever.

If you apply the same principle to Davey, then every stupid decision he makes is Shephards fault.

It's certainly a great opportunity for him to show he can do it at a higher standard, should be an incentive for him to do well as if he doesn't take it he'll be back in the lower echelons for the rest of his career.</p>

Mind you same could be said about Davey.</p>

he's done a great job to steady the ship at oakwell but as made 2 stupid mistakes - 1; sacking Ritchie, 2: appointing Davey.</p>

But its those two mistakes that matter.

Ritchie was stupid for not bringing any players in, he should have done something, but to sack for him for not and replace him with an untried manager that is currently bringing in his own players, then plays the old players in stupid positions and obviously watches a different game to the other 10,000 people in Oakwell is the real crime.

If there was no better then Ritchie out there he should have kept him on.

while i did sit and moan on saturday i will never shout abuse at any player who i think is giving his all. If the problem is lack of ability then so be it. Now if it is a lack of effort then a tirade of abuse they can expect from me. As you say mattis wasnt going to say no was he
