You're HAVE to attend a works dinner. Transport is arranged. It happens to be at a local rival club. The cheapest house wine per bottle is £19.50 (ish). You know the wine in question costs £4 at Morrisons. DO you a) Throw a sicky b) Gerritsupped no matter what the cost c) Find a charming other person to buy it for you d) Drink overpriced lager/ water/ juice instead e) Smuggle summat in f) Just say No g) Find a not so charming person to buy it for you & to hell with the consequences
What? At the weekend? .. and with door to door lifts with one of dem Blades? Wasted opportunity?? (dunno)
You are going to a do at Bramall Lane? I wouldn't go to a do there if I was paid £195 per bottle to drink, £500 for the meal and was escorted by female German porn stars. Why don't you just say you're not going and that's that?
b) Gerrit supped and be thankful we don't live in France. Had lunch last week in Courcheval 1850 (Ok expensive french ski resort). Had a salad and 2 pints of diet coke (thirsty work all that skiing). Guess how much? . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . £36 quid! The coke was just short of £10 a pint!
I refer you to my previous post Replace the words "Bramall Lane" with "Elland Road". Repeat this in front of a mirror 50 times until you have learnt it, then say it to the relevant person: - "I AM NOT GOING TO A BLOODY DO AT BELLEND ROAD AND THAT'S IT"
(h) Ask them if they have got an alternative wine that is more refined & expensive, ask them to fetch it, then taste it and then & tell them it's corked. Then say you'll stick to the tap water as it's the only thing you'll trust in "this place", ie. hissy fit over the "corked" wine and free watter. Moral high ground obtained A very expensive bottle of wine unsaleable No need to pay for a taxi home Priceless
Ive found reasonably priced fodder in 1850 before mindsthi from what I've heard this season resort pricing has gone barmy even allowing for the euro. heard reports of 14 quid Baileys and 11 quid soup. Canada will be my next outing bart a doubt.
RE: Ive found reasonably priced fodder in 1850 before Yeah saw French Onion soup on the menu for £11. Bargain. Lift passes up 20% apparently - £220 for a three valleys weekly pass.
RE: Pffft Good glad you liked it - We thought it was a good place before they did it up so maybe will have to go and check it out again next year. The Mrs told me the snow was perfect in La Plagne so I assume it wasnt too bad in the trois vallees as well
Ski Tip If you are concerned about the price don't go to a pretentious, purpose built, grey concrete, supposedly posh resort with its own airport where the first language is Russian. There are loads of other resorts in other countries but skiing is expensive compared with other holidays. More fun though!
