If we want to compete at this level. For argument's sake, let's say the only way to increase the budget is to increase ticket prices. Does the recruitment so far indicate any real increase in income/expenditure?
Moncur and Bradshaw are certainly top-end League One players, a class above Kennedy, Wiseman and so on. I'd imagine they were priced accordingly.
Neither cost us as much as the club apparently gained from promotion, £6m isnt it? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This £6 million increase, will probably be an estimate of how much better off we will be by the end of the season through tv rights, sponsorship deals, increased attendances etc, rather than just a lump sum that appears we we got promoted. We'd be spending something that we're not guaranteed to get, although we probably will, but that goes against everything they've been trying to do at the club over the past 15 years in getting us to a point where we're self sufficient. I'd say so. This time last year we were moaning about the lack of transfer activity and number of loan players. We've probably spent a million quid on 2 players who are proven performers at the level below. Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk
Our owner puts money in to the club. He's as desperate for us to do well as either me or you. No one takes money out of the club. The only conclusion I can reach from this is that when our recruitment is complete it will reflect an increased budget. I don't like the look of the cost of some of the individual match tickets any more than you do. But I do understand that the single biggest source of income for Championship clubs is gate receipts; a combination of season ticket money and match tickets from those who pay on the day. I understand that the club hope to maximise profits from match tickets by charging those teams with a large following quite a hefty price. I understand why they've done it, it makes sense. Unfortunately, due to the rules of the league, a number of Barnsley fans will charged this price too. But I really don't believe the club are happy with that, I don't think they take our support for granted, I just think it's a necessary evil they felt they had to do. The free coach trip to Wigan, the price of the play-off tickets against Walsall and the cup games throughout the season, the fact that I'm paying the same for my season ticket this season, in a higher league, as I did last, all tell me that the club do care about the fans, but sometimes they have to act like a business to help us achieve what we all want: success.
Why do you all ways have to come on the BBS posting sense like that and ruining the tone of the place?
Also look at what we earned through winning thr JPT and play off final and those four sky tv appearances.
Oh yeh I know that, but there'll also be a minimum that we'll be guarenteed to get. I very much doubt that Moncur and Bradshaw have added up to that sum. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
We'll be earning nearly £200,000 each off the supporters of Wednesday, Leeds, Villa & Newcastle. Probably £100,000 off Huddersfield & Rotherham, that's a million pound there in away gate receipts.
