that we have won the last 2 away games, as we have lost the last 3 Home games in a row, i cant bare to imagine where we would be without te excellent wins away to Watford and P.N.E its all about what we expected really ( win against Hull and Leicester at Oakwell 6 points) defeats at wwtford and PNE D so next week a point maybe enuff v Charlton to keep us up if wednesday fail to beat Leicester. i cant see uf losing in all fairness with THe Addicks having nothing to play for with them not getting the result tpday
Agreed, those unexpected away results have kept us in it, given the recent losses at home. Still, given that we stand more chance of getting points against Charlton, with our season so far that means we'll lose at home but grab all 3 points in Wales?
A couple of weeks ago.... I said we needed three wins to be safe. We got two away and I think that we will need to beat Charlton to be sure. In fact, the only way we can go down is if we lose both and there is a strange combination of other results. However, remember Sheffield United last season!!!! In other words, we DO need to beat Charlton for sure.
RE: A couple of weeks ago.... Since this division went to 24 teams there has only be one season where 52 points wasn't enough can't help thinking this could be the second unfortunately
"the only way we can go down is if we lose both" Can't see that myself. Even if we drew one then even if Wednesday only drew against Leicester they'd still overtake us with a win on their last day as they've got better GD. If they beat Leicester then it'd really go down to the wire on the last day. Don't get me wrong, we'd still need some bad results to go against us to go down. But we can still go down without losing both our remaining games.
Given our appalling performances and results At home since Christmas (the games against WBA & Ipswich have been the exception rather than the rule, unfortunately), it'll definitely go down to the last match at Cardiff. I know a draw at home to Charlton, alongside a win for Leicester against Sheffield Wednesday, would see us mathematically safe, but we rarely look like scoring at home these days. To think, I used to be a fully committed 'Happy Clapper' too!
It's difficult to see Where our next home goal, never mind win, is coming from. However, if we can avoid defeat against Charlton, a Leicester victory over Wednesday will mean we're safe.
to be fair mate, we came mighty close on four occassions yesterday still can't believe the ref failed to award us a cast iron penalty. So counting that, five.
We got ourselves into some promising situations But, more often than not, the delivery into the box was of a poor standard. If it didn't hit the first defender, it gave the Leicester goalkeeper easy catching practice. This was especially the case from our deadball deliveries. The number of quality chances created for our strikers was practically nonexistent, yet again. Henderson was not called on to earn his money in the manner he should've been made to do, especially when one considers the importance of the game.
