That first half, for me, was terrible. We offered up absolutely nothing. Forest were the more creative and positive and despite the goal getting a nice deflection (otherwise Steele wouldn't have been beaten today) they fully deserved their lead. They should have had a penalty also when Jim McNulty blatantly handballed from a McLeary shot - nice to have a bit of luck for a change I suppose. The second half was a breath of fresh air. We took the game to Forest and could've been level long before Craig Davies rifled in from 25 yards. Once again, I was very impressed with Paul Digby. He had another very solid game. Once agan, I was very not impressed with Jay McEveley. Ironically, I felt he was doing ok when he got taken off, but upto that, he was again, poor. The first half showed no lack of effort on our part, but smacked of a lack of creativity and attacking threat - that all changed in the second half. Was this down to Forest sitting back? Was this down to us just playing like we can? Dunno - but it was a far, far better second half and I enjoyed it. I clapped and cheered at full time.
Thanks for the succinct and honest report. Pretty much sums up what I gleaned from Player commentary today. Cheers.
