in which he was supporting Burton to get the job, claiming that the players actually knew what they were doing under him (i.e. instructions etc) which would seem to imply that they didn't before? It could be me getting the wrong end of the stick but did anyone else hear it?
I heard Burton's post-match interview in PoG as I was driving back north on Saturday and he spoke absolute sense. Made football sound what it is at heart - a very simple game. Said they'd gone out with a gameplan expecting Crewe to play a certain way; that never materialised, so him and Hecky left the players alone for 5 minutes at half-time and went off for a chat. Came up with a Plan B, changed things in midfield and got the result. I believe it wasn't pretty, but we need points right now. Points bring momentum, which brings confidence, which allows the players to show a little more week-on-week. Not by any means saying I want Burton to get the job, but this thing is a lottery whoever takes it, so if they do the cheap thing, he'll get my support as someone who sees the game in a pragmatic, sensible way.
I always find it strange how a professional football cannot know what he is supposed to be doing ? They nearly always say the previous manger didnt understand them or they him, they are going to do their best for the new manager and put more effort in etc . Why did they not do the same before ? Hypocritical feckers !
The main reason I don't want Richard Burton in charge is that he's dead. Now Danny may have got some things wrong, but I'll be very cross if we have a corpse in charge of my beloved football club. I've been married to one for 10 years & it's not good. Also - Plan B getting involved is ridiculous too. 0-0 at half time ... game on a knife edge ... let's bring a Southern Rapper / Soul Singer in to sort things out. I, for one, am fuming. I like Pragmatic, but I think he plays for Chelsea.
You'd employ a dead person who runs a clothes shop (and is the Son of the Anti-Chris, Deon)? You make me sick.
Basing it on one result then. So if we lose, you don't want him getting it? That'd be absurd reasoning, but then, I think BFC used that method when giving it Flicker, so.....
Auntie Chris. Was a man, now a woman. Do you have an issue with our trans-gender fans? You hate filled, war mongering, ming-mong mongerer.
No, i just think he'd do a good job, given the chance that is. i also dont think he will get the job, i think the board want him if we win tomorrow night, but i wouldn't mind if they did.
Problem was he didn't pick any wingers to start with. I've no idea what Crewe's game plan was but it was plainly obvious from the off that we were never going to score without any width. He's picked the wrong starting XI two weeks on the bounce now so that doesn't bode well even if he realises his mistake at half-time.
It was an appalling game of football between two appalling sides. The week before that, they were beaten so badly by Crawley that those who attended had to be refunded. I don't think we've seen anything 'better' from this BFC than we did with Danny as manager. Now, if for the first time this season we go away from home to an half decent side and take the game to them, beat them comfortably, then I'll sit up and take note. Nyatanga gave the political answer. Plus, he could lose his place under a new manager. I wouldn't read owt into what he or other players say.
If Nyatanga was indeed one of the players Burton accused of throwing the towel in at Crawley, then he'll be doing lots of brown nosing at the moment.
Mark Burton? A 5-1 defeat to a team that lost their previous home game 0-5. Then a match on Saturday that was without doubt one of the worst games of professional football I have ever witnessed. Even the goals were appalling. Not that he can do much In a short space of time, but I am sure I could pick a better team. What about getting the most out of our top scorer/assister, rather than sticking him on the right wing & then subbing him at half time? 4-2-3-1 Davies Holgate Cranie Nyatanga Smith Pearson Scowen Lalkovich Hourihane O'Sullivan Waring (Winnall when fit) Players in their proper positions, chance of a modicum of entertainment? 4 central midfielders in a 4 4 2 was just dull, and the two strikers he played should not be in the side, IMO.
Is it more absurd than giving it a bloke that hasn't managed Barnsley at all, in fact not even managed in L1, or even Magee! It's amazing how many things sound absurd when it's simplified. You never know we might even look backwards 20 years to make our choice......oh done that too.
I agree with most of this but how many more "worst game ever seen" this season do we have to endure. Be surprised if we win tomorrow, ain't our form this season been win 1 lose 3
