I Didnt Realise That Rochdale

Had been in the bottom tier of English football since 1964

 

So for me, the fans who have followed Rochdale since 1964 are the best fans in the country - not the likes of Leeds who haven't suffered a tenth of the pain Rochdale fans have over the years. Can't see Sky coming out with such logic today however.

I hope they do it and have a little bit of glory for once.

Rochdale fans are great because Rochdale are ****. I guess Man Utd fans are all **** because Man Utd are good. Our fans must all be average as we're a pretty average team.

I would certainly respect a set of fans more for following their team through years of adversary - as oppossed to judging how well a team is supported purely on numbers ie Sky.

I use Leeds as a prime example. 'Wow'. 38,000 for an home game. Give em 43 years in Div 2 and if they are still getting 38.000 then I will agree they have one hell of a following.

Me too mate. I hated the time we were in League One as the football was shocking. So to have to put up with League Two for 44 years is a credit to them. Hopefully today they will get their reward.

What's childish is calling people names on an internet forum. You do it all the time. I've now told you that I'm not going to accept it any more.

I was questioning the validity of the post. I don't believe Rochdale fans are the best in the country just because their club has consistently performed poorly. They're just football fans who support their home town club. They're just the same as any other fans. My response highlighted that and didn't deserve someone calling me names over it. You've called me names many times before and I've now told you I will no longer tolerate it. You wouldn't do it to my face and I see no reason why I should accept it on here. If you continue to do so I will have words with you the next time I see you. That isn't a threat. That's the only reasonable action I can take in order to try and stop you doing it.

But to support the same team through the same division for so long takes something. It's not like they get many hangers on through their glory times!

And in response to the name calling, you are right, it was out of order and I apologise.

 

The Rochdale fans are die hard fans

No question. But all clubs have got them. Bigger clubs have all got glory supporters (I include Barnsley in that) who would not be there had their club had the same run as Rochdale, but there would be some fans there and in many cases it would be as many if not more than what Rochdale attract.

You can't be said to be not as good a fan just because your club has historically been better than Rochdale.

I don't know what Rochdale's average gate is so I can't compare it to anyone else, but I think it's pretty certain if we were in the same situation we'd be lucky to get 5,000 in Oakwell week in week out.
