We are looking for someone to keep us in this league and save us dropping £3m income at the end of the season. Desperate times call for desperate measures, so go and find the right man for the job and not the first bloke who'll accept 10 bob and a blackies egg.
don't be ridiculous........................we stopped offering a blackies a blackies egg ages since!, best they can hope for now is a piece of lightly chewed gum (only one previous owner)
Regardless of what we think of the last two managers, neither were the cheapest option as compensation was paid to both Rochdale and Rotherham. I fail to see why people think we "always choose the cheapest option" when we quite obviously don't.
I dont think wages of the manager is the issue - or it shouldnt be. The managers we are realistically looking at are out of work and cant realistically expect silly money but we should certainly be able to pay suitable salary for the right man - especially if we put the right performance clauses in - eg Keep us up and ypu can have a £250K bonus ? The bigger problem is a manager with a good reputation like Davies or Coyle probably wouldnt take the job for the same reason that Robins lost enthusiasm - unless they think they will be able to make the necessary changes in January they wont come as they wont want a championship relegation on their CV. A second problem is the "takeover" would you take a management job at a club where the owner is looking to sell - new owners always want their own man and the current owner doesnt want to put in any more money. Finally assuming the General Manager is the person initially talking to prospective candidates are you confident he is the right person to sell the club to them?
