Its what was needed after Ritchies efforts to get us to play. Back to basics.
Well we are at schoolboy level now , so the only way is up.

i genuinely believe that Ritchies team was not far off a very good team indeed. not bothered about the ins and outs of why the squad wasn't strengthened - it now seems to me that we have taken 5 steps back from what everyone at the club had worked so hard to achieve and returned to the days of glynn hodges. i wish i could do what a lot of people on radio dee dah claim to do and stop supporting the team but i can't. the way it looks at the moment we are going down and we won't come back for a long time. im not sure if the only way is up? i admire your optimism but i can only see us going one way and it isn't up.
Disagree. We don't have the players to set our team up defensively. You can only work with what you have. If we bring in a few massive centre halves & another defensive midfielder - then fair enough ... especially away from home we should be looking at becoming "hard to beat". At the moment - we are trying to teach a pig to bark. With our current squad dynamic - the only solution is to pass & score our way out of trouble. Either that or bob Robbie back in central midfield. Oh aye.
I agree that the squad dynamic is that of an attacking scoring team.
Thats whats so puzzling about how we are attempting to play at the moment.

I feel as a club we've failed to take advantage of what we achieved at Cardiff. Like yourself, can't be bothered with the ins and outs of why Ritchie left but when we lost 1-0 at Deepdale I felt a hell of a lot better than I did on saturday. We looked like a team on the verge of something quite good
i'm not entirely sure i could describe how we're tactically playing at the moment apart from "haphazard" maybe.
I agree, how on earth can anyone at the club be making any progress. Last Saturday’s performance against a team very much out of form was one of the worst I have seen. No passion and apart from Howard, Hassle and Nardiello. With Nardiello trying to do things on his own as he knew giving the ball to anyone else would end up with Preston on the attack again. Not the best of idea’s but at least there was a desire to get himself a goal at least or at least get a chance which otherwise wouldn’t have been created. If Davey is such a good manager why are certain players, playing obviously without confidence. Paul Hayes is a prime example, quality player but he seems to have been dragged down with the tactics.
Togwell on the wing Don't think I'll ever get over that. Then to sub him, shove McCann in the middle and Mattis on the wing ? Anything bar Davey showing he may have got it wrong.

While he's learning the art of football management we are sliding towards League 1. Fantastic job everyone.

I'm not so sure. Unless it's Babe - that clever little bacon chop can talk - so barking, I assume, wouldn't be much of a challenge. I'm involved in a thread about football. My Mum will be so proud.
You missed just one point: Davey is obviously trying to stop us leaking goals by playing central midfielders on the flanks (McCann & Togwell). If he's adopting a "defensive" option to our play, which in some cases I applaud, then why did we buy McCann (an attacking midfielder) and Mattis (another attacking midfielder)? I'm confused. We are trying to teach a sheep to moo.
Are you mad? It's obvious what's happening. Davey will make one baffling selection per game - such as: Williams in central midfield Paul Reid in central midfield Togwell on the right wing. Unfortunately - we have lost every game. Eventually - we will win one (probably some time in April) ... and Davey will be hailed as a tactical wizard. Next three games: Hayes as a right wing back Austin on the left wing Jay's favourite - Kay up front Get ready. This game of "Simon Davey's Virtual Championship Manager 2007 (Glove Puppet version)" is wearing as thin as my hair.
The big question, as far as I am concerned is why he picks 2 strikers who do not like the ball delivered in the air ... and then instructs the other 9 to keep banging it forward as high as possible. Course, the fact that we have sold our best winger might be a factor.
Davey misread that page and nearly had the whole team balancing on one leg for an entire practice match.
hehe there are those children who have been brought up with dogs though and they bark. i wonder if you brought up one pig with a house full of dogs then it would learn to bark, eat pal and jump. i bet it would. i've had enough of football , im taking up rugby, a proper metrosexuals game.
Not sure. I think if you brought a pig up with a load of dogs - they'd probably try to eat the porky little fecker. It's like that girl who was brought up by wolves ... I still can't believe you ended up marrying her - well done. Take up Rugy? You mean playing?
