Although not being too keen on Danny since he's been here I've been 100% behind him throughout. I just dont think sacking managers gets you anywhere. Tonight though Im struggling to defend him. Obvious managerial mistakes have been made in the last 2 games and when those mistakes contribute to losing games it becomes indefensible. A poor performance/result on Saturday and I think hes out.
Yeah I agree the decision to change a manager shouldn't be taken lightly - previously we've done it based on the form of five or six games which is the wrong way to go about it, but he's had well over a year now, this is the second version of his own team and nothing has changed. He'll always be a legend for what he did all those years ago but we do not owe him any loyalty, he certainly didn't show us any loyalty when he left.
There is clearly something very wrong at the club. I felt very strongly that we were relegated last season without a fight and that the manager's negativity was such that we never gave ourselves a chance. No-one seemed to agree with me and perhaps I was wrong. What has really shocked me though is the fact that the negativity has continued. When we went a goal up tonight I said to those around me that within 10 minutes we would be making Fleetwood look like Real Madrid and, whilst it is true that their goals were down to schoolboy defending, they were moving the ball around in a way that our lot look incapable of doing. And that has been the case in virtually every game this season. Make no mistake, although we have won the last few home games we could just as easily have lost them. Danny says we need to be patient. I think you need to be a saint to put up with this for much longer.
