He sounded happy to be getting rid of Burns.

Think so. Ritchie was playing down the impact Burns' departure would have. He never once alluded to him leaving being a negative thing. If I were a betting man I'd say he wanted rid.

    Bobby Hassell sounds interesting?

Much better idea than Wroe and Kay.

Think he's played there before, under Hart. Certainly capable of breaking opposition play up.

    All well and good, but

If Ritchie thought that playing Hassell in central midfield (or anyone else that people have mentioned) was a better option than playing Burns, then Hassell would have been playing there all year. A manager picks his best side. In just about every game this season Ritchie has picked Burns to be in his best 11. Telling us all now that Hassell can do just as good a job sounds like a mountain of ballacks to me when he hasn't tried that all year.

That I think, is Ritchie's problem. He doesn't think about "Plan B" until "Plan A" has failed a dozen times or more. He is into "Fire Fighting" rather than "Fire Prevention" IMHO.

    'kin 'ell

Just a bit concerned that we may lose someone who i believe has been a vital part of the team's success.

I'll go back to putting me fingers in me ears, singing 'la la laaa' and extoling the virtues of Nicky Wroe.

Hassell and Burns were outstanding against Tranmere

Hassell is arguably the best centre half at the club, and is worthy of the captains armband on recent performances. Burns is the most vital cog in midfield, not ony breaking up attacks but spreading the ball out wide to bring the wingers into play and decent set piece delivery from which we look dangerous.

only the most idiotic of imbeciles would think taking Burns out and playing Hassell in midfield is a step forward.
added to which, Ritchie has turned down the opportunity to strengthen in favour of keeping the team unit together and not upsetting the balance of the side. What the f.ck does he think the above is going to do?
