After the Bolton game K.Hill said on radio Sheffield when asked about transfers,"I can NOW bring in better quality players".Not last week or the week or month before but NOW.That says to me that BFC had given Hill increased funds which wasn't there before or as I thought at the time cash had been filtered through via prospective buyers. Can anyone shed light on what happened. Was anything mentioned at the meeting with Mr Rowing about this sudden influx in money.?
Hill did indeed say that after the Bolton game. Rowing at the meeting said Hill could have brought in the loanees last summer if he wanted. So therefore it's another case of the board and manager not being on the same page. It's not the first, second or third time Rowing and Hill have said complete polar opposite things.
Could he have fetched the same loanees in during the summer or was the bar lifted to bring in extra "quality" players after the Bolton game.
He did answer the question. He said the loan players came out of hills budget. Someone said do you think he was just waiting to see how we went first and Don said yes.
Think Andy recalls it correctly. Money has been there just Hill only spending it when he (no one else) wants to.
I think he did say that mate. But I asked if the money for the loan signings had just been made available and he said yes to that too. If you took everything he said on the subject at face value then you have to conclude that the money has always been there and it's just been made available. Whatever that means.
I remember him saying that, but like you said I remember him saying/implying there'd been an injection of funds recently too.
To honest on reflection quite a lot of what was said doesn't really add up. I'm still not too sure what to make of it. unfortunately I can't really post my thoughts here.
I know why BMW is asking this question because I myself consider this an important topic. What was said is this - Keith Hill has a budget to work within during a season. He chose not to spend it all during July. I then said - so we can assume from this he was gauging how his current signings would cope before thinking about adding additional players. DON said; yes that is how he saw it. So in my opinion Keith has boxed clever - he has brought in some players to see how it works and he has seen that they are struggling in certain areas, so he has brought other players in He now needs time to get those players playing as a team..........once he does there could well be a change in fortunes (lets hope) starting at Leicester.
So keith hill who said we needed a strong commanding centre back in the summer has decided to wait and see how **** the defence is before bringing in 700million midfielders because that was so clearly where we were struggling with a choice of just mellis, dawson, etuhu, obrien, rnl, done, perkins, hassell, cywka and even dagnall and cranie all playing in midfield for him. I can see why he would quite clearly think this was the area we needed to strengthen in. The centre back which was so badly needed according to him in the summer is, after evaluating, clearly not needed at all while he's got just 4 players to choose from there, one who gets dropped every second game, one who isn't even a centre back, one who is utter gash and one who hill clearly sees more as a midfielder.
I also think we need a strong commanding centre back. But as always.......we, us fans, only know a smidge of what is actually going on..........who says that Keith hasn't recently tried to sign a strong commanding centre back.
We know exactly what is going on on the pitch and the fact is that keith Hill HASNT signed a big strong centre back and if he hasn't managed to do so after attempting for near on 6 months (since the summer) then he is clearly **** at identifying and signing players because even you could bring someone in in that time. I suspect that in actual fact he has ignored the defence because he hoped that scott wiseman and mcnulty would be good enough. In fact its pretty clear thats what hes done because he's completely ignored the other options hes had available to him.
I can't believe having already allowed hill to sign all these midfielders. They were prepared to sign yes another in de silva. I think there comes a point when the board needs to say NO. What's up with that lad we signed who hasn't played a game yet. Hill is to blame for signing all these players but he hasn't signed the cheques
