When we were linked with Foster and Johnson people were saying why are we buying players from a relegated team with the worst defence and a striker who's only scored five career goals, now when the deals fail for whatever reason we're showing a lack of ambition.Beats me.
simple some of those on here wet themselves at the prospect of any signing however insignificant
and when it doesn't happen they throw teddies

A lack of ambition? We're missing out on players to League One clubs. I know we can't risk going into Administration again and I fully agree with it, but it sounds to me like we must be offering players a packet of crisps and a sandwich. I'm a very positive person and an optimist, but its starting to get very worrying.
Yes, but if you spin it the other way, we can't even sign crap players. I'm still hoping for a decent signing spree, and the quality players to resign their contracts... something to tide us over wouldn't hurt. We're bound to be edgey.
Is it possible that Fosters move to Burnley is nothing to do with money just the location and just maybe Johnson as been promised garenteed regular first team football.
RE: simple Now that is just either being patronising or deliberateley provocative to anybody who has said anything of an opposite point of view. Its obvious why people are having a whinge,Chopra&Mcphail to Cardiff fair enough but when lower division clubs start beating you to players (ones who are'nt even among the frontrunners)thats a fair reason to set people thinking IMHO.I like Richie but he really doesnt do himself any favours when he comes out with comments like if Kay signs its not as important to strengthen that area, ffs we were down to the bare bones in defence waaay too often last year and we don't even have the outside hope that Carbon might be fit. Also what kind of impression does it give to players that you are trying to get back on contract who might also have offers from elsewhere.
RE: A lack of ambition? How much do you think we're offering? Any idea what sort of money they are on? Got this from the BBC Championship players earn an average salary of £195,750, League One players £67,850 and League Two £49,600. Perhaps those that aren't re-signing want a hundred grand rise? If other clubs have sugar daddies who want to bankroll players on salaries well above what the club takes in good luck to them. If other clubs like to flirt with financial disaster by offering salaries they can't afford, more fool them. Remember we have been bitten before and bitten badly. Only a lunatic would go down the same road again. I think they'll sign a 'bums on seats' player before too long. If AR has any sense he'll keep it under wraps until his target is waving the old scarf around Oakwell. Bit hard though nowadays with these players agents. One sniff and it gets around faster than a Paris Hilton email.
