Wright-Phillips for Beckham too? I don't like Heskey, but he is working better with Owen than Rooney ever has. Lampard doesn't work well with Gerrard, so one has to be left out - hopefully Lampard. And as much as I like Gary Neville, I think he is too injury prone now, and Micah Richards is the future of that role - if not a centre half. Been a good display so far - better than I was expecting.
Gareth Barry Ferguson bought the wrong man in Carrick. What a fantastic 2 games he ha had. Cemented his place in the England team for me.
Barry can't be dropped for me. Richards is the way forward for England at RB. I haven't seen so much balance in a England team for a long time.
I'm hoping McClaren realises he is a lucky manager Those old enough to remember Bobby Robson will recall him stumbling on a side that worked by accident due to injury and suspension (twice as it happened) and not necessarily the 11 best players eligable I think McClaren has had a huge slice of luck - though he has made the best of it - I dont think many of us would have picked Heskey for the Israel match. Everyone has been saying for ages our Midfield lacked balance - now we have a midfield that actually works - If he drops Barry for Lampard next match I will be disguested, same goes with SWP and Becks and also Neville for Richards The only possible debate if Rooney is fit is whether to play him - persomally I would keep Heskey and Owen if fit, could consider Rooney instead of Joe Cole?
