In all the euphoria and celebration I can't help feeling sorry for the fans and players at Peterborough (don't worry, I'm not going to go as far as to sympathise with Fergie Jr). They showed some real character after a dreadful start and earned some incredible results. The fact that it was as close as that in the end is remarkable given the way we turned our season around and they must be absolutely gutted about the way it played out for them when it was not only in their hands but seemingly under control right up until the last few minutes. It's also a tidy little away match for me ruled out for next year (not that I'd want to be going there as the supporter of a division 3 side, you understand).
Completely agree. Particularly when you consider the anti-football of some of the teams that survived
Yep, bloke who I know through work as a customer contact is a Posh fan and a decent bloke - I feel a bit gutted for them that they are down as both us and them deserved to stay up - some of their results have been incredible. However, in the end, it was them or us, so I can't be too upset as you can't have everything. The only thing that matters is that it wasn't us.
As much as I've thought whenever we got a good result, Peterborough seemed to pull one out as well - i guess their fans thought the same about us. Would have prefered Blackburn's plummit to have continued. I also feel sorry for the Wolves fans, what has gone on at that club? Heard 606 last night and there was a Wolves fan on (backed up later by a Brighton fan) who said that when there fans were criticising their players at the end of the game with chants of "You're not fit to wear the shirt" etc, the players responded with "loadsa money" type gestures as to how much they got paid - disgraceful.
I was gutted for them, I really didn't want them to go down and I hope they bounce back up. There were far more deserving candidates to be relegated, Millwall, Blackburn and Washday to name them but sadly I didn't get my other wish yesterday.
Jamie O'Hara in particular, that one apparently. That's the peril of goin up into the Premier League these days - your team gets filled with mercenaries who find themselves on obscene wages and they don't care about the club.
It's one thing to feel sorry for Peterborough and I've been saying the same....but Wolves?....no, nay, never!
What an odd one for George Boyd? On loan club promoted, home club relegated. That's got to be a first! I have massive sympathy for Posh. Think what you like about Junior, they had a bloody good go and dealt a few footballing lessons out to so so called big clubs. Gave us a right slap at home as well, which has to go down as one of the games that sent us into that pre Xmas free-fall.
Totally agree, I never wanted them to drop either they deserved to stop up, and so did we. I would have preferred the Thug team Millwall to have dropped TBH.
Bournemouth though will be a smashing away game for us southern based puffters. I'm looking forward to making a weekend out of it, tearing it up with the retired gentry.
WOuld love Bournmouth to be first game of season on a hot summer weekend. Think I would make the effort to go down for that one - new ground and all that.
I cant feel anything for Peterbrough to be honest and it was a case of them or us. They will be back though Im sure of it. Wolves fans started the season in an arrogant mood and they were probably thinking of an easy immediate promotion when they beat us in their first home game. The same goes for Blackburns fans as well.
Who's the guy one in from the right? <img src="http://news.bbcimg.co.uk/media/images/67421000/jpg/_67421027_67421024.jpg"/> 'cos he looks about as gutted as it's possible for a professional footballer to look in the modern age.
I don't think Peterborough would have felt sorry for us. Anyone but is was who I wanted to go down, thankfully it came off however on another day it could easily have been us staring League One in the face!
I feel sorry for Peterborough, too. A small club run along the correct lines, with a genuine fan base. My son was mascot there, and they (Simon) were terrific towards my lad and us. I can't speak highly enough of them.
