I was a little doubtful when Mattis came in (and let's be honest was proven right) because he was so very unproven at this level.

However, despite his youth this Nyatanga turned out 24 times for Derby last year with four more appearances this season, if that's not championship experience I don't know what is.

And....he's played more times for Wales than Daniel Nardiello ever will.

I agree give the lad a chance, but what we need is a leader at the back this season, lets hope he is mature for his years and has a gob on him to make the rest of the back 4 crack!

I don't think people are doubting Nyatangas footballing skills.........they are doubting his...

They are doubting his................AGE

Has an 18 year old got the bottle for a relegation fight ???
Can an 18 year old roll his sleeves up in a battle for survival ???
Can an 18 year old fight a battle when all around him are other young guys ???

My thoughts...........NO he can't !!!

As the saying goes........you cannot substitute for experience
This for me is another shot in the dark from the management and directors of Barnsley Football Club

I hope I'm wrong

There is a well known pundit who once said you will never win anything with kids. How wrong he was. But i must agree to some extent.. It'll be one hell of a challenge for these young-n's to keep us up. In the end i think lack of experience and quality will send us down. (titanic)

RE: Are Barnsley Bet giving odds on how long the Barnsley Boo Boys give 'im?

I have a question for 'fans' around Oakwell shouting abuse at the players:

Do you think you are helping players to regain confidence, or do you think your £15 per match entitles you to be the 12th man for the opposition?

These shortsighted morons will help seal our relegation. We've an inexperienced manager, and a very young squad. Anyone without a guide dog can see the players are low and need encouragement, but it seems many 'fans' are more interested in venting their splean than helping the club.

If you want to protest, do it at the final whistle or even better do it on this forum, or write to our Chairman. Don't start shouting abuse during the game.

I'll say Amen to that. I don't Boo but i moan alot. Wish Barnsleyfc would give us some little bit of sparkle so that we can encourage the team on. I suppose they try their best , but it is poor . Lets be honest about it. (titanic)

All the fans need to get right behind the team from now til end of season. Too much negativity around the club. This new signing proves it. Day 1 of his time at BFC and he is already being knocked from some quarters. When we stay up everybody will be saying how they supported all that has gone this season, it makes me laugh. It seems that people expect us to be much higher in the league and that is nonsense. If at the start of the season somebody had offered us 14 matches to go and still in with a good shout of staying up we would have taken it. Anybody who thinks otherwise is being unrealistic. We are where we expected to be so lets get behind the team and help them survive, rather than passing the hammer to knock the nails into the coffin. (RIP)
