Having witnessed Tuesday nights performance I distinctly disagree with Flickers comments.“I can’t ask anything more from that group of players – they worked hard for each other and give it everything,” he said.

“We came here (Bournemouth) to win the game and I’ve thrown everyone on and gone really positive.

“I’ve told the lads after the game to keep working hard.”

The work rate was nothing like what we witnessed from the lads in the latter half of last season. Instead of pressing and harrasing Bournemouth we we too content to sit back and invite pressure onto us especially the second half. Our Play was incoherent and disjointed with possession given away far too easily for my liking.
As regards for "coming to win the game and going really positive" this could not be further from the truth IMO. Without being disrespectful to Bournemouth they won't be the toughest opposition we will face this season.
In the first half we did hold our own and looked more assured in defence. It was crying out for someone to exert their authority and grab the game by the scruff of the neck.
That is what Bournemouth did in the second half and credit has to be given to Eddie Howe. By the time the goal came we should have been 2 0 down already but survived due to some poor finishing. At no point in the second half did we go positive and their keeper was hardly troubled.
I sincerely hope i'm wrong but it could be more of the same on saturday if Flickers comments are anything to go by.
I want more of last seasons spirit with Flicker than the crap which was served up on Tuesday.
Feel free to disagree as this is only my humble opinion of what I witnessed.

I fear this season that were setting up not to lose games too much rather than to try and win them. Last season we had to win or at least draw. So in a way the thought process was taken away from flicker, he had no choice.

This season with more time and more games hes showing his true managerial stye, and to be honest its pretty ****

My lad went too..he said pretty much the same..not sure why things didn't improve really, the bench and the subs that were made Jennings,Scotland and RNL were all pretty attack minded.

This also, "the two that hit the post in the first half and on another night they go in and we comfortably win the game". Erm no Flicker, that's only one chance - you don't get two goals!!??

Have we had the old "we can't afford 2.5m for a striker " yet from anybody

Go on, I'll bite. Isn't it relevant that a team just promoted where able to bring on a striker they've just bought for 2.5m who makes a significant impact and changes the game?

That doesn't for a second mean we shouldn't be looking at how we played and how we can improve but if nothing else it shows that football is ****** and what a difficult league we are in.

Luckily Flicker's record shows he is consistently able to get our team to compete with and outperform teams with greater resources. Like we did in our last home game

I must admit, I read that article and thought excatly the same. I was there on Tuesday and Flicker must have been watching a different game to me. Apart from the opening 10-15 mins in the second half when they chased and closed down Bournemouth we offered very little during the game: whoever scored first was always going to win this game.

There was no movement, no passion, in fact the only thing we did well was move the ball sideways or back when we were in a position, on numerous occasions, to get the ball into the box. I don't know what the answer is, we have a stronger squad but the results and performances are not reflecting this. The players are obviously in need of a lift and a good result this weekend may provide this and give them belief.

That said, I have faith in Flicker and any suggestion of managerial changes is just plain stupid at this stage of the season. Hopefully everything will fall into place this weekend and we can start to climb the table.

Forget the £2.5m striker. We need someone who can create from midfield. Gary Lineker would have struggled in this set-up.

Btw I'm not sure the bit about consistently competing and outperforming is strictly accurate. We may have done, up to a point, in the last home game, but other than that?

Since Flitcroft took over we have won 37% of his games in charge. That is better than the vast majority of managers in our history. His record also equates to 48 points from 35 games. Over a full season that would be 63 points. The majoirty of this was done with a team who were bottom of the table when he took charge and had one of, if not the, lowest wage bill in the league.

We've made a poor start to the season away from home. I'm not shying away from that in the slightest. He hasn't worked out his best team, best formation, and we're not pressing teams as well as last year.

But I would say his performance to date as manager fits my assessment.

I agree with this comment. I was also at the match on Tuesday and imo we did not play like a team. We lacked any kind of link up play with inaccurate passing or sideways passing or backwards passing. Imo we were not even in the match for the first 15 minutes so wouldn't have said we had a good first half.

However that said I also dont want to see any managerial changes at this stage. The lads have just got to play with a passion to win which I haven't seen yet this season.
