...the dislike/hatred towards Cranie. He's a good defender. His reading of the game is good, his positional sense is good and if we were to keep him, I think he would be a massive asset to us in League One. Fair enough, from what I can gather, his wages are pretty high, but I'd rather we keep him, than take on someone like Zat Knight...

Why who's said otherwise? He for me would be the best defender in league one.

Totally agree. Our best player in my view and that was before COG left. Multi-positional, quality on the ball, great defender. Can't imagine we'll get anyone better for this league. Massive plus if we manage to keep hold of him.

If we can afford to keep him, then I'm all for it. Big if, like.

I think he is a Class defender

I think he is a decent defender not a world beater certainly not upper champsionshite level but lower champsionshite league one he can more than hold his own.

Given the fact we'll let him go for a blackies egg and some daz only blackpoo have come in for him it suggests one of two things, he's paid an absolute bomb or those with dossiers don't think he is as good as we fans believe he is.

I think he's average as a defender. I honestly believe he'd be more suited to midfield. He played there in the 5-0 trouncing of Brum that day.

Agree with that - he's one of the best 'footballers' at the club in my opinion.

There has been no hatred or dislike of him as far as I've seen, bit of bizarre post if you ask me

There's been quite a few replies to posts slating him and saying they'd be happy if we got rid.

I think it's a similar scenario to when a player leaves. One minute he's our best player, and then the moment he leaves he's 'sh*t'.

I've not seen/heard of any hatred towards him, but I definitely agree with what you're saying. He's a top quality defender. Reads the game well and is unbelievably composed on the ball. If we keep hold of him I'll be over the moon. He was player of the season, for me.

I would hate to see him leave. He had some poor games. But who didn't last year.
With the right support and a consistent centre back partnership he will boss that defence.
If we can afford him, why would we let him go.
If we can't afford him offer a bit less but with extra clean sheet bonuses.

For me, he is club captain material. We haven't got one at the minute!
Let alone a natural team captain on the pitch (granted I know little about the potential leadership skills of the new lads)

    Just my view...

DW has confirmed that he wants Cranie to stay at the club and be captain.

maybe its his wages that are the stumbling block

he would be more than good at L1 level, but we have said we have a budget and we will stick to it, so if his wage requirement is outside that budget then we will have to say cheerio.

Spot on. I was hoping that is where he would be played (midfield that is)
