A bit of an attacking midfield don't you think? I think we'd probably miss togwell with that team.

Almost agree with that tea.

For me, if the Midfield is going to be them four, then Togwell should slot into RB, and Hassell move into CB at the expense of Reid!

I'd stick with Eckersley BUT personally I don't rate him. Not added anything more to the team, other than competition forplaces at LB.

Hayes is still one of the most effective players we have. After getting dropped I feel that he could come back stronger.

The selection on Saturday may be in-flu-enced

by who's fit to play and who's trained and who hasnt. McCann, Devaney and Peter were all badly earlier in week, could be going round the club. certain key players carrying knocks as well. with a fully fit squad to choose from, maybe you're not far off. at least we have reasonable cover now in most positions.

dont rate the man u lad at all waste of time really. Heckingbottom just another one to blame. i dont think eckersley wants to be here at all where as hecky would run through walls for the club.

Hayes is a quality player and i think with the hungarians up front hayes would be likely to find a killer pass with movement ahead of him for a change. Dont get all the hype round reid no end product he just quick thats all.

id be tempted to move hassell into to middle if we had a decent right back to cover. Not sure about Austin though

Nice summary by Davey last night.

Several players have the flu.
Martin Devaney, however, has the runs ... the shits, the bog trots.
He's got cack dribbling down his legs.
The rest of the players, on the other hand, have perfectly respectable illnesses ... not like that show-pony Devaney & his pebbledashed pants.

I also enjoyed Bobby Hassel's interview.
"There's more discipline under Simon & we've kept more clean sheets than under Andy".
You're not wrong, Bobby lad.
We're also playing like we've never seen a football before too.

We've also created less chances, scored less goals under Simon.

midfield cover essential at this stage. assuming Rasiak does for us on Setdi, turning point on Tuesday? you've got your centre half at last, seen any Sunderland games?

You could say that Simon's had more support than Ritchie perhaps maybe ? I don't know. Just going on the number of players brought in since Ritchie was sacked.

Nope ... not Sunderland.

Seen him play for Derby.
He was so good I can't remember him.
My mate says he's class.

Turning point?
Oh aye.
I hope Rasziak gets nobbled by Natayanatangayanga.

Midfield cover?
We've got 11 midfielders - which is fine for Chelsea, but will result in the players who should be cover (McCan't & Dibbley) taking the places of the better performers in the squad.

Andy: I'm not taking Ritchie Jones as I can't give him an automatic starting spot in the middle of the park - just like Colchester won't in a few weeks
Gord: Tha sacked, Anderson

Davey: I'm not taking Gabriel Zakuani as I can't give him an automatic starting spot in the middle of defence - just like Stoke won't in a few weeks
Gord: Good lad Simon, I didn't want him anyway

The 2 new loan players, probably nobody on here has seen play, the 2 Hungarians are still unknown quantities, yet 'it looks good on paper'.It seems to me that we sign someone and people automatically assume they are going to be our saviours, wouldn't it be a good idea to see how good they are first?

Mmm.

How many of the new boys have made us a better team?
So far - I'd say none.

I can see the Hippo's & this centre half eventually improving us ... by which time we'll be cast adrift at the bottom.
I honestly think Eckersley, Kyel Reid, Mattis & McCann are no better than what we already have.

Cover

3 keepers
4 centre backs
2 right backs
2 left backs
8+ midfield players
5+ strikers

fairly balanced I'd say, and sufficient to absorb injuries, fatigue and suspensions that will start to rack up between now and April. Mentail strength is another matter.

If we go into the last 4 games needing 2 wins, we'll have a very VERY good chance, I'd say.
