    After winning promotion via last season's play-offs, Barnsley have also found life tough this season. Manager Andy Ritchie was axed and a decision on a permanent successor is imminent.
    For chairman Gordon Shepherd, this decision could not be any more critical. Get it wrong and the hard work of last season will have been wasted; get it right and the club can go from strength to strength.
