I'm sick of this... is it possible to block the numbers before they even ring? I don't answer the phone as we have caller display but it still pisses me off.
We don't answer the house phone any more full stop. If its someone we know they will ring our mobile(s). The only callers on the house phone are unwanted cold callers and we get loads of them. We just sit there and happily ignore it when it rings. We only keep a land line at all because of the broadband.
If you have TalkTalk they have a number you can dial after the unwanted call to block it calling again.
I'd just unplug the phone. Annoyingly I am now getting loads of cold callers to my work mobile so any calls from numbers I don't recognise or any withheld numbers are just put through to voicemail which is very frustrating when its a customer. Cold callers are a bloody nuisance and it seems there is nothing you can do to stop them.
The ones that really boil my piss are those that activate an automated voice message when you answer - if you're gonna cold call me at least have the fecking decency to put a human being on the other end of the line for me to abuse. I'd be interested to know if it actually works - I just can't imagine that anyone has picked up the phone, started listening to an automated sales message and thought "this sounds good, I'll wait to hear the whole thing because I might be tempted".
I have at least one unknown number call me every day. The worst ones are sky. I get spanish inquisition from them as they can't quite grasp that I don't need sky as I already have it. They keep saying, but we can't find an account in your name, so when I say it's in my girlfriends name, they say they'll take me from their database. Only for them to call me again a fortnight later. Then theres the PPI calls. I work in PPI myself, and I know I've never had any.
icant do links guys, but if you google TPS (Telephone Preference Service) and register with them (free) it should help with some of the problems
I agree completely. Surely these companies must look at marketing figures and work out that these cold calls, automated or manned or just not a very good idea any more. I don't know anyone who welcomes these calls.
