But reading lots of Twitter on a train this morning, it’s quite moving to see the tone of various tributes from former team mates and folk in football that have a genuine affection you don’t often find. As a bloke in his 40’s with two young girls I can’t quite get my head round it to be honest -
I said same to my mate driving home last night, I’m 35 with 2 daughters and it’s so sad to think how bad things must’ve been for him, truly awful
It’s a scourge of our time and I’m not sure what the answer is. and then reminded in fact that it’s always been there as an issue by looking at the cricket to see who won the toss, and seeing that Jonny Bairstow has been dropped, which immediately is a reminder of what happened with his dad
I think a lot of support nends to go to families in situations like this. I know in David Bairstow's case there were money worries. But the loved ones will always be left wondering could I have prevented it, why weren't we enough to want to live forl He always came across as a nice guy when he was with us and the tributes to him reflect that.
All FA cup games this weekend will kick off at one minute later than usual. That one minute is to think about others with mental health and one minute of talking/listening is all it could take to make a difference and save a life.
