Posted on: Mon 07 Apr 2008 BARNSLEY striker Kayode Odejayi has revealed how his teammates looked to him in the dressing room following yesterday's Wembley heartbreak. Speaking to the media after the game, Kayode said: "When I went through I was really confident I would score. I tried to put it in the bottom right-hand corner but unfortunately it didn't go in. "I was really disappointed. I know I should have scored and I apologised to the lads. But they told me not to blame myself".
i'm gutted for the lad, we can all slate him for what hes done, but just think how he will be feeling at the moment, i think thats the end of his barnsley career unfortunately
Golden rule of the striker when one on one always go across the GK. Kayode had and open goal and he went for the narrowest angle near post where the GK was. i felt sick when he missed i was gutted. i knew that was the chance that would have sealed it but unfortunatley we had the worst striker on our squad one v one id have been more confident had it been Foster tbh Still Gutted
"they told me not to blame myself" Yep. One on one with the keeper and given a free run on goal from 25 yards and not even managing to get it on target in the biggest game of your life, and all after having scored just two goals in nigh on 40 games. Yep, it's not your fault. If KO continues to start for the rest of the season we can kiss the Championship goodbye for the simple reason that we won't score any goals.
Correct, i was sat just behind the goals and all he had to do was place it to the goalkeepers right. Wide open net. I don't suppose one moment that K wanted to miss it and his reaction afterwards, well i felt sorry for him. But lets be frank my uncle who has a wooden leg would have scored in that situation. The big lad isn't good enough, and i use to be a fan. (N)
Not to blame myself? He's a striker. It's his job. Who else would you blame?
Never will he get an easier call, he almost needed to just walk it in. The fact that he has scored twice in however many it has been, yet missed countless opportunities speaks volumes. He is not a striker. Unfortunately, neither is Stan by all accounts. We aregetting goals onlyfrom the more distant midfielders, wingers and occasional flashes of brilliance from the back men. But our strikers are letting us down and that is the key.
Yesterday we showed how we could hold the back line together and keep Cardiff out, after 9 minutes of course, but we can't pay it back up front. Until we can we are in dire trouble and our season long demise stands testament to that.

well the majority of 33,000 fans are telling you... TO BLAME YOURSELF..DONKEY and also please bugger off
Got to blame the manager if anybody for picking him. He is never going to score goals. Some of the chances he has missed this season point to somebody who, if he wasn't big and quick, would not be a professional footballer. Need to give Coulson a couple of games and see what he is like at taking the chances (if any) that come his way. I don't reckon ODJI will start on Wednesday.
Fair play to him Just seen him on Calendar apologising to the players and fans for the miss, well done Kayode there's many players who wouldn't have bothered
dont worry davey WILL play him on weds,he'll not want to make himself look a tw-t,by finally agreeing he's the worst centre forward we've ever had and thats not just a reaction from yesterdays miss, think back to the ipswich match he missed a hatrick in the first half!
You what?? He gets paid an obscene amount of money to kick a football past one man into a space you could drive 3 side by side buses into.
And I'm supposed to admire him because he FAILED?
No. Sorry.
