This 'halo device' Is anyone seriously suggesting that Bianchi would have survived sledging into the recovery truck if he had had that device. I don't know what it is made of but it is unlikely that it would have withstood the impact with the girder at the back of the lorry. if anything it would have shattered or sheared off and probably done even more damage to Bianchi's head. Not sure Massa would have been saved from impact with that loose bolt either as there is plenty of space either side for small items of debris to penetrate the cockpit area. Same with Senna who dies when a piece of front suspension pierced his helmet like a spear. It surely impacts on viz as well especially in rain/spray where they rely on the rear red light to see the car directly in front of them. The may as well do away with open cockpit racing if they go down this route. As Hamilton has said, trying to remove all risk is killing the sport bit by bit.
