But was he the number 1 choice before the Leeds game? The reason I ask is what if they've already promised the job to someone else or signed a contract with someone else after listening to what the fans wanted,

He was my 1st choice after SOD was removed from the equation. He was 2nd in the polls before Leeds. But he has always been the players choice - I hope that counts for something.

but many weren't ponty. had the Don 'listened to the fans' and made a decision before yesterday's game, flicker wouldn't have been the choice. stupidly, craig hignett probably would. i know the don will get slaughtered if flicker leaves the Club today, but looking at this impartially, a lot of fans (myself included) will need to have a hard look at themselves today, and shoulder some of the blame.

He was second to Hignett on the poll before the Leeds game. Higgy isn't a serious consideration really so that puts Flicker as first choice even before the game.

Wasn't my first choice but I was impressed with what I saw at Peterboro and we were fantastic yesterday so he deserves a chance. Main thing for me is that the players are deperate for him to get it aned they're fighting for him which is what we need if we're going to stay up. He's got to get it now.

From what my mate told me at the game yesterday, he said he heard the interview with Don Rowing on Radio Sheffield before the game and he said they'd not spoken to or approached anyone since Butcher turned us down, so was looking like an appointment from within.

If Flitcroft and Mellon leave the club today, some other club will have a young and vibrant Management duo. They WILL be a duo elsewhere imho.

I wanted a more experienced manager and dint feel he was right for the job at the time of sacking Hill. Not because i didnt rate him as a manager but because i felt someone with championship credentials was what was needed. However things have moved on, we are well into the transfer window, the number of games left has moved on and players are unsettled. During the past few weeks we have seen we have had Plan A (Hill), Plan B (SOD) and Plan C (TB). But during that time we have had the chance to see Flicker, playing a different style, getting the ball up front quicker, creating more chances and the defense looking a little bit better. The players want to play for him and i can see some passion on the field. I think given the time / games we have left i think he is now worth a punt till season end. High risk maybe, maybe not, but a big test aside from how this team perform on the pitch is in the attraction and integration of new players. I hope he is given the chance to bring new players in. He seems to be getting best from those we have but we need an additional striker and i still feel we are a solid / experienced centre half short.

I was sceptical about Flitcroft taking charge after the Bolton Gobshite got the Spanish archer (el-bow) as I viewed him to be half the problem.

It appears he maybe wasn't. Changed things straight away to 3 across the back and 2 wing backs, more direct instead of pissing about passing it along the halfway line.

Players seem to be putting a shift in for him and Mellon. Last 2 or 3 games we have had 2 blokes doing their nut on the touch line rather than hiding in the dug out waiting to be sacked.

Yes the Burnley game was crap to watch, but at least we didn't play well and won, rather than playing well and losing.

Give him the job, for me. Just hope he doesn't bring Hill in as his number 2 :D
