.... will the way they play cause us some major problems? I think it might. They are a team of 6 foot plus bullies who bang the high balls into the box and that is a worry to me. I've been saying all season (as many have) that we need a big, commanding centre half and I think Saturday might just highlight that fact even more. I dread to think who's going to pick that centre half up in the skull cap (if he's not banned by then), hope it's not Wiseman or McNulty or he might get a hat-trick of headers! I'm going for a 4-4 draw if we play Tudgay up front with Davies, 'cos on a brighter note, their defence is absolutely shocking, and even worse than ours, from what I've seen on the tele!!
Hope Sidibe plays, I'd be confident of marking him! They'll be dangerous from set pieces but I worry about Antonio and that Jermaine Johnson who always seems to hit form against us. I do think that our central midfield should control the match and hopefully that'll be the key.
The Birmingham result aside, for the last few years we've capitulated in front of the TV cameras - that's what worries me most. I don't see any real threat in their team, I've only seen them on TV and they seem to be very poor all over the pitch whereas I'd say we just have some questionable areas that cause us to struggle and concede avoidable goals. My Wednesday mates were raving about Antonio when they were in League One - not so much now. From what I've seen he's pacey but rarely has the end product in this league but could enjoy playing against our League One defence! I'd be very disappointed if we lost this, but couldn't really grumble at a draw given our inability to convert chances and the fact that we rarely keep a clean sheet. Tudgay has to start for me and I'd like to see Bobby finally thrown in at CB but that will never happen.
They are the Pigs ............ ........ as their ground ('The Sty' or 'Swillsbrough') is built where a Pig Farm used to be in S6. Don't know where you've got that from that the 'Blunts' are the 'Pigs' mate, I've never referred to them as the Pigs, and the Blunts fans call the Pigs, the Pigs!! Anyway Oink, Oink yer smelly Wednesday 'massive' barstewards!!
going back to my childhood in the 50's I used visit relatives in Sheffield who were blunts fans, the daughter married an owls fan and the ''joke'' used to be that the owls fans wouldn't eat bacon because it was red and white hence the blunts were known as the pigs even back then, I think that the blunts calling the owls pigs is a bit of a pathetic attempt to turn the tables cos they can't think of owt original, a bit like both of them calling us dingles, they're not clever enough to think of anything original so they pinch someone elses idea.
I thought they were called pigs cos there used to be a pig farm near hillsborough or the ground was built on a former farm?
That is just an urban myth mate. It is based on a supposedly old map of the area, which shows a pig farm where Hillsbro` is now,. that map was drawn by a Blunt and sent to the Sheffield Star. Sometime in the early 60`s I was told.
