i love it when people say we need a goalscorer

we've had loads of strikers but if there;s one thing about the way we've played under Davey it's that we don't create anywhere near enough chances. Ignore the Hume miss, but when was the last time we created 3 chances in a game. Every team we play against creates more than us.

I'm also starting to think that we should let Howard go cos i think the whole way we play will change. Then again that could be the biggest risk ever (casualty)

 

agree with the chances issue. Been saying this for a season or two now.

 

Definitely bang on about the chances thing - we don't create anything, no matter who we had up front we simply wouldn't score.

Not sure letting Howard go would be the answer tho. We seem to do ok when Howard and De Silva play together in the middle.

 

Which is why we need one.

If we only create one or two chances a game, we need someone who will put them away.

 

Eh........

Last season we created alot of chances for the forwards but few of them took the opportunities and scored...... admittedly opportunities have been few and far between this season. However, if we had a goalscorer e.g. Phillips or Riordan, they would have made more of those opportunities and probably created further chances for themselves.

Odejayi - may be big, quick and strong but has the touch of a Blackpool Donkey.
Macken - has the ability but for some reason seems to be shy in front of goal. If in goalscoring position he will often make a pass rather than shoot, where as a goalscorer as those mentioned would not.

Hume - has ability and isn't afraid to have a shot. No complaints from him as he proven he has goals in his locker already this season.

Mostto - looked completely out of sorts at the start of the last campaign but looks much more settled this term. He has goals in him but has had limited first team opportunities this year. I think its time KO was rested and he was given another chance.

Rigters - the dutch Francis Jeffers i.e. was hot young prospect but spend more time in the treatment room than on the pitch. If he can stay fit he could be the player to get the goals.


Moral of the story is a goalscorer only need one chance to score!!! Unfortunatly we have Odejayi, and if he had 5 one-on-ones in a game I still wouldn't be comfident in him scoring.
