Yes, without religion people would surely stop killing each other, witness the great peace which broke out in Europe from the 19th Century onwards once people stopped believing in God........

No, people wouldn't and haven't stopped killing without religion. It is however, still up there as a past and present reason why there is killing and hatred in this world. I don't think people stopped being religious from the 19th Century. People just became more and more socially aware thanks to the writings of Charles Dickens et al.In Christianity,there were more branches of beliefs. I'm not advocating anyone who has a religious faith is A war monger and does'nt want a peaceful world. Indeed, People I know of the Christian and Muslim faith are really nice people and wouldn't hurt a fly.However, there are, shall we say, some eccentrics out there.
