Used to play footy with him at school, and still talks to him as they both live in Huddersfield. Told me that Dwayne said he was signed in readiness for relegation to League 1 as he'd have done the job at that level. Said he was a nice enough bloke but wasn't ever really going to set the footballing world on fire (oh? thanks for pointing that out to me!) etc etc Anyhow there you go. At least we've only got him for two more years.
"signed in readiness for relegation" now theres the ambition of the club in its true colors well well well...that vanswers many many many questions.... well done Moose. If that statement does not open the eyes and remove the rose colored glasses of the Collective on here then they are beyond help.
RE: "signed in readiness for relegation" now theres the ambition of the club in its true colors Obviously Davey said "were signing you for next season, in League 1"</p> </p> (blagger) </p>
It's all so clear now then An old school friend of Mattis says that he was signed "in readyness for relegation" and that answers all the questions and is a statement of BFC's intent!
RE: It's all so clear now then yes ...that they had in fact accepted relegation, and were in fact buying leser players for it...as now.
RE: It's all so clear now then So you honestly believe that the club are trying to get relegated?! It may have escaped your notice but we didn't get relegated last year - and what do you base buying "lesser players" on now - Bruma, Mostto? How do you know these are "lesser players"? But you happily take the view of someone who spoke to someone who used to be at school with Mattis, and that is a clear indication of the intent of the club!
RE: It's all so clear now then I thought the signings of Stan, Pete and Nyatanga were a intent of staying up, how wrong I was.
nope, genuine mate we both had a good laugh about the fact we'd signed him for 2 and a half years. Oh and it was Mattis himself who told his mate he'd been signed in case of relegation.
oh yeah, coz unlike most footballers on the planet, he doesn't have an ego and would openly tell his mate he's not good enough. Are you sure his mate isn't bitter that Dwayne made it and he didn't? I've heard plenty of similar conversation regarding Lee Bradbury being **** from everyone who played with or against him as a kid on the Isle of Wight.
Thanks for keeping us up to date. It's handy that we have someone with a good job to help us understand things. Talking of "fat biffers" by the way, are you still seeing that bird you used to take into the Outpost?
huh? he never said he wasn't good enough, he said they'd signed him cos he'd do the job in League 1. and i have no idea if his mate ever wanted to be a professional footballer. didn't seem bitter about it at all though, said Dwayne was a mate and seemed perfectly happy for him.
The implication that he wasn't good enough for the Championship is there isn't it? I'm not questioning you Moose, I'm just not at all convinced that BFC would tell a potential signing we're preparing for relegation when all the noises and the sacking of Ritchie was about staying up? And if that was said, would a player tell his mate he's been signed for that purpose or would he be quite happily telling his mates he's been signed to play at Championship level?
RE: It's all so clear now then Looks plausible to me or was it Ryan Kidd's influence....owts possible in football, I've witnessed some right shannigans at various football clubs... ....has Tom Harban been given another years pro? ....last year Shep to Ritchie."Andy you have to start putting young McCrory on the bench" Ritchie to Shep "You can sack me first before I do that" Shep to Ritchie "Andy you don't understand his father is one of our main sponsors, in football money talks" So EastStander do you have a job, just seems to me you have an opinion or response for a majority of the threads on here?
