and ancient history than the next manager - and how Cryne and Mansford are going to approach the next appointment differently to the last god knows how many. Whilst Stones might have been sold for more - the approach Cryne and Mansford have would surely mean that any extra money would simply have been pi$$ed up the wall by now - or reduced the amount Cryne has had to stump up to pay off managers. To me it's a relatively minor point - because even if we'd got 10 million - we'd still be where we are today - managerless and at the bottom of the league (but maybe the bottom of the championship rather than league 1) - but still fundamentally broken. The important thing is not how much we sold a player for but have they recognised their method of appointing and managing managers is not working. I couldn't get there last night and haven't trawled through everything - but so far I've not seen one extract of either Cryne or Mansford admitting they are the problem or one thing saying how they are going to ensure the next manager isn't simply meat for the grinder to be replaced in twelve months in a continuation of this Dante'an spiral into the depths of football hell.
They did outline what they wanted in terms of a long term plan and style of football, with Cryne being a big admirer of Swindon and their style. They want to adopt a style to be played throughout the club, eliminating mistakes and making it easier for those stepping up from the Academy and want a manager to embed that at the club. They expect to get promotion within the next year or two and hope to be a club capable of maintaining Championship football, maybe with a bit of luck challenging for a play off spot. Might be cloud cuckoo land, but that's what they want. Clearly didn't think Danny was capable of achieving that and they'd agreed to his plan to bring in youth and develop a long term plan only if they were never in danger of relegation to League 2. To make such a demand seems pretty clueless to me, but hey ho that's what we've got running our club...
