Nothing positive posted ever. Just threads ripping the team, management and even our own supporters to shreads at times. When we play well, you very rarely get people praising the team etc, but as soon as the team dont do the things that certain people wish of them, certain posters go picking out the negatives. Some of the posters on here just want to see us fail this season.
It's enough to make a nun swear. Totally depressing.
Rob Knowles made a couple of good points in his programme notes this week. Now is NOT the time for complaining, whinging, insulting players etc, cant we just all pull togther and cheer them on to promotion?!
Come on Barnsalee

I complain because it hurts to see a promising season, i.e. automatic promotion, thrown away by pure incompetence, if, however like your good self you are happy just to grin and bear it, good luck to you, but, I fear because of this lethargy, we have to put up with, mediocrity, and a "oh that'll do" attitude, Mr Shepherd will, to all our cost find out that, you pay peanuts, you get monkey's.
I know where you're coming from but . . . . . . sweeping generalisation and simply not true. I for one was doing my best to be positive and I know many other people were too. For example: "Other results went our way and we're up there with a shout in a play-off spot. We've got the second best home record in the division, having only lost one game all season. It's all to play for. If we fail then there'll be plenty of time for wild accusations in the close season but they're not going to achieve anything now. " If by your own admission you "never read the board on a Setdi neet" then it's probably best not to comment on what you're not reading.
RE: I know where you're coming from but . . . I do read or have a flick through the posts, like today for example, l just dont read them on a setdi neet. Too depressing. The way some people have been moaning, anybody would think we were in MK Dons's position.
RE: I know where you're coming from but . . . the other depressing thing is that none of the moaners EVER suggest how the finances of the club can be sensibly and practicaly improved in order to effect their wish lists
Fair enough I did wonder whether you meant that you read them afterwards. If so, though, you should recognise that there are some of us that do our best to stem the tide of negativity. Although I have at times been known to encourage heavy drinking at about 5 o'clock, this is as much a matter of habit as a negative reaction to the results
Exactely! Good point.
I'd love to see Rufus and Sambora up front, see how many they bang in, not for Barnsley though, for fowls or summat. I love Barnsley too much.

RE: Fair enough I do recognise that the majority of posters do get behind them and keep things positive, yourself, Journo Tyke, Alityke etc for example, its just the minority that wind me up! Ala Rufus, Sambora, Jonothan
RE: Exactely! Well, we would be an hell of an improvement on the two so called pro strikers we're playing at the moment, as for the negativity, do you think this is exclusive to Sambora and I? don't think so, 90% of the crowd on saturday were stunned into negative thoughts, with our inability to kill teams off, we are hoping and praying for a playoff spot, when we should be on here upbeat and positive about next season in the Championship. The point regarding finances, brought up by Burgundy Red, next year in this division, there will be a significant reduction of season ticket sales, and gates in general will fall quite substantially, probably brought on by a negativity running through town, thus ensuring a heavier burden on Mr Cryne, surely you can see a valid point there? Of course there are positives, most players at the club have carried out their duties superbly, the defence has'nt, to any degree let anyone down, the midfield is as good as you'll find in ths league, a bit more POSITIVITY from the people that matter at pivotal times of the season, would I'm sure transmitted to the supporters. Finally, we as supporters are not going to agree on all aspects of the game, or indeed OUR club, but this board is in place to air our points of veiw, Sambora and I, along with many others take that opportunity. I have nothing but a great deal of love and ambition for this club, and will follow my team come what may.
Not actually my point I think it was actually Geriatrictyke who raised the issue of finances, but I'm interested in your answer. What makes you so sure that there will be a "significant reduction of season ticket sales" next year if we stay in this division? Do you not think that in the cold light of the close season many people would realise that we would be in a good position to build on this year's league position and home record? A number may wait and see what happens with respect to new signings and contract renewals but I'd be surprised if even this number was significant. I'd be interested to know what the annual change in season ticket holders was (not just the final total, but how many stop and how many start each year). Again, I'd be surprised if there was much change year-on-year.
RE: Not actually my point You raise a valid point, regarding a wait and see policy, and I, along with many others would hope that the powers that be respond favourably in the transfer market come the close season, I can only comment upon the people around me at Oakwell, but, the general feeling is that, this season has been seen as fantastic opportunity to rid ourselves of this woeful division, only to fizzle out and come to nothing, the playoffs seem to be regarded by some on this board, as the promised land, I don't share that view, playoff games are notoriously treacherous, and given our performances in "must win games" the signs are not good, (please God let me be wrong). I would argue, though I have no figures to quote, so my frame of reference is from gut feeling, that the gates, although not overly dramatic have in recent seasons fallen.
RE: Not actually my point Out of gut feeling, I too think that if we stay in this division, then the number of season ticket sales will drop. Like you say, I have no stats to back me up, just a gut feeling. Unless of course rumours are to be believed that a certain Mr Chopra could appear next season. Now that would build optimism.
I bet you and sambora had lots of toys when you were kids eh? Or should I say I bet you and Sambora have lots of toys.
