Dear all, With regret, I have decided that I can no longer use this forum, nor to continue supporting Barnsley. I have attend Barnsley games home and away since the age of 11 (a season ticket holder for seven of those years), but this is the end of the line for me. My decision, should you care to know, is not a criticism of the club, the manager or the players, but of the 'fans'; whose rampant and unrelenting negativity about the club and its staff could never come close to being considered support. I no longer wish to be associated with the outlook and comments of this board, or with a team supported by those that are. Thanks to the team for the pleasure of many an exciting game (7-1 against Huddersfield on Higgy's debut my personal favourite, some memorable cup wins (against Man Utd, Liverpool and Chesea) and three promotions; I'm sorry to lose you.
Can I just point out That whilst we as Site Admin would like to think that this board gives fans the chance to air their thoughts/fears/criticsm/backing/support of all things BFC, we know its not representative of BFC fans as a whole. Only a small percentage actually come on here you know. Anyone who would stop supporting the reds in whole or in part due to comments posted on here, well its just plain cuckoo. Stop reading/posting if it makes you feel better, make your own mind up about BFC and don't worry about what anyone else says.
You can't It's not that simple. I did some serious reflection recently on a few things that really trouble me about the attitudes of a too-large minority of the club's supporters (often expressed on this board) and the nature of supporting any team, its impact on one's life, etc. But that's just rationalisation. I've come to the conclusion that I can no more stop supporting Barnsley than I can eat my own head. I do post a lot less on this board, though. It's kind of a compromise.
Aww...... Life is about opinions mate. Admittedly, there is a lot of negativity on here, but I imagine it's the same on other clubs' boards. People are more inclined to put down their feelings in print when they're unhappy about something than they are when things are going well. That's life. You just get on with it. League 1 is a depressing thought, but if it happens (as Im thinking it will) I'll be there come August.
I didn't even go to the game as i was at work and i still booed I am the worst of the worst + i'm not going to another game unless i get someones spare season ticket or things drastically improve. I AM SCUM
RE: To be honest... ....we are better off without 'fans' like you, if you are to quit supporting the club over such a silly reason. If we were to of the league I guess it wouldn't matter to you one jot how negative the fans were on here, you would still be going to the games. The real reason you are not going is because of what's happening on the pitch, so don't try and use people on here as a scapegoat.
RE: I didn't even go to the game as i was at work and i still booed I remember Ron Atkinson, after a bad performance, saying in the after match interveiw that his team were that bad that even he was shouting sack the manager.
obviosly <--(spelling before you punctuation police see it ) not a true fan, why not go be a false fan at man u or scum united or at washday? !! PATHETIC !! Get a grip, views are views and if u dont like em dont read em !!
RE: I didn't even go to the game as i was at work and i still booed I was in Glasgow and at full time i booed just in the hope it would catch a bit of wind and travel to preston straight through Daveys letterbox, up the stairs, into his bedroom and wake him up, boooooooooo!!!!
RE: How bizarre. nt Truly, I can't relate to being a supporter like that- It's in your blood, isn't it? Once a Barnsley fan, always a Barnsley fan for a club like ours? I know a Barnsley teenager who goes to Sheff Utd regularly now with his dad after he stopped taking him to Oakwell when Barnsley got relegated from the premier, saying "c'mon I'm sick of this". Makes me feel sick. So don't get this post, like you can just turn being a supporter, that gut pride or heartache on or off like that
