well, I'm not sure if I agree that it's such a good turn out. Had that been the Reds, having spent so much money and having being hyped up by publicity pete I'm sure we would have taken many more to Cardif.

    I think it's a poor turn out.

They have spent obscene amounts of money and I hope they fall flat on their faces.
The Swans would have probably filled the away end had it been they who we were playing on the opening day of the season.

PMSL at ST sales now reached 6000

I think even we might be ahead of them on ST sales then - I have a feeling that had we signed the players they have we might have sold a few more than that too.

    RE: Not being funny like...

...but your not exactly a "glamour" fixture are you?

1500 travelling to Yorkshire is not bad. Not good, but not bad. Loads have stopped travelling because of the restrictions placed on us as well. Not an excuse, just telling it as it is.

In our time in the Championship we've only had away followings of 1500 or more around ten times. Sheffield Utd brought 160 the season before last!

Well Bluebird, aren't you worried about the amount of money you have spent?

Surely, if you care about your club, you will be.
Ridsdale is gambling everything on promotion!
It's a very risky scenario don't you think?

    RE: Not really, no.

    What money have we spent?

£300k on Michael Chopra - rising to £500k on appearances and if promoted :pff

£275k on Roger Johnson - total figure including add-ons.

McNaughton (Aberdeen), Gilbert (Arsenal), McPhail (Barnsley), Glombard (Nantes), two lads from MK Dons - all free. Don't get me wrong, I know there's no such thing as a "free" transfer but we've also got rid of players to free up the wage bill to pay for them.

Oh, and we've received £3m for Cameron Jerome with another £1m to follow if Brum are promoted in the next few years. Very likely imo.

Obviously we're still trying to get Koumas for £1m + £1m in add-ons but there's still money in the kitty.

I think that you are a little distorted there. On the contrary,it is usual to bring an above number of fans for two reasons. 1. it being the first game of the season and the neccessity for a fan base to stamp it's authority,by means of,( we are here) and 2. An egocentric attitude, very much like Risdale, with an attitude of arrogance.:pff :pff :pff :pff :pff

But what about the wages these players are on, we know Chopra is o about £5.000 a week

We couldn't possibly compete with that!

    RE:Welcome to the Championship

We are by no means the highest payers in this division, that's the current going rate I'm afraid. There's a list out there in www.land somewhere of clubs playing budgets - can't remember where, sorry.

If you want to attract players, decent players that is, you have to compete with what's on offer elsewhere.

In addition, we run with one of the smallest squads in the division - 17 players last year and similar this season, so our expenditure is pretty streamlined.

because I thought Risdale is arrogant does not equate to a dislike of him. On the otherhand do'nt get me started on the topic of that other person.
