Davey is committed, his heart is in the right place. He has now the respect of the playing staff, but.

He is not getting the best from the Team
There are too many inconsistent performances
His tactics are still at times a bit baffling
The only system he appears to use is the 'hoof it up the middle'

Said it before and if he had the help of an experienced Manager to guide him we could go places. Pity Bassets gone to Leeds.

A Director of football ,i.e. ERIC WINSTANLEY who could slip into the background.

I would think Davey would feel undermined unless he wanted someone working with him, i cant understand how you can say he isnt getting the best from the team! Are we struggling!?

must admit I never liked him either.

I think that without Higgy we would have been nowhere near playoffs,
Keith Brown at full back instead of Nicky Eaden?
over reliance on the long ball up to Ships etc. Never tried to play attractive football, I know we were winning , but I feel cheated if we dont at least try to play decent football, its the same now.

The last thing a manager needs is a director of football undermining him

Davey's got the job, let him get on with it. If it turns out he's not good enough, then get rid of him. But there's little point in having someone not good enough at the club with someone above him pulling the strings. You just get a manager in who can do the job. Similarly, if he is good enough, the last thing he needs is someone pissing about in his affairs. Let the manager manage.
Not that I think for a minute that Mr Shepherd would bring someone else in. He's not an idiot. He's chosen his man and he'll let him do the job.
