we are going to be the 4th worst supported team in the division, only luton, colchester and Southend got less than us.

    put it into context

think of the massive cost bases that those teams have and require huge home gates to finance it.

if we have gates of 12,000 and stay up - that'll do me. i'd rather have that than gates of 20,000 and go down (hello hull!)

it's not a case of being "worst supported" at all, it's all relative.

    that wasn't my point

I don't think the folks of Barnsley realise that the championship has changed since we were last in it. It is far higher profile, the teams employ a much better standard of player, the grounds are much improved and the interest across the country is much higher, hence the much improved attendances at most gorunds

    yeah maybe so

but we're already doing better than the crowds last season.

remember that this season we have Leeds and Wednesday to visit - that should nudge up our average gate.

Isn't that kind of thing against the rules these days?

Don't away prices have to be same as comparable home prices?

dunno..only going on what he said as he's ordered his tickets

think we can charge whatever leeds charge us.

Leeds cheapest tickets are 26 quid but they may charge more for away supporters as they limit away fans to 1000ish..despite the ground being half empty.

    Found this

    Here: http://www.football-research.org/fitda/FITDA-chapter32.htm

"the Premier League, FA and Football League have rules on provision for away fans – including . . . that they should not be charged more for comparable accommodation"

I seem to remember that Alan Bloore was involved with campaigning for this.

We could top those figures against the same opposition

    Wolves will bring 4k

    Leeds will bring 6k

There do seem to be several loopholes

Including, but not limited to, blatant non-compliance.

Which is all very well, but some of us just can't afford to pay the ridiculous Championship admission prices :(

They're supposed to be, but I'm sure there are ways of getting around it.

overheard a few people muttering on saturday that they

were gonna buy season tickets based on cardiff performance.

as above, expect another 1000 on the gate come May if we have played well all season. The leeds and wednesday games will bump it up also

And the Hull result, even if they didn't go, will no doubt have cemented that decision to buy a season ticket.
