Players who impress initially tend to be flashes in the pan
Nardiello is just the most recent example I can think of many others
Its players who get off to a slow start that generally are the sucesses.
Ronnie Glavin didnt impress on his debut
more recently Michael Chopra got off to a slow start
I have high hopes for Devaney - he started very slowly and is now looking like an excellent player hope I'm right
...and yes there are plently of players who started slowly and got worse! Can anyone think of a star who started really well and kept it going

RE: Craig Hignett Didnt see his first few games (and it was before barnsley world commentaries) so I will have to rely on your judgement there
RE: Craig Hignett Scored on his debut, and missed a pen ff Looked fantastic, very neat and tidy touches
Wrong He couldn't be arsed towards the end. Yard off the pace and made no attempt to make it up. Mind you, most of the team played that way too.
RE: Craig Hignett Scored two in fact, and helped tear Udders apart along with Wardy and Brooce. Superb performance.
RE: Wrong How do you work that out? We won 7-1 FFS!!! Anyone who isnt playing regualry is bound to be 'off the pace'! EG. Devaney
Do you actually understand this thread?? Higgy was the donkey's conkers when he joined - brilliant on his debut and should have had a hat-trick. Towards the end (of his time at the club) he looked a yard off the pace etc etc etc....
Are you sure? His last game for us was the play-off final, where he scored. He also scored in the play-off semi-final where he ripped Birmingham to pieces. He scored 21 goals for us that season and god knows how many assists. Without him we'd have been midtable at best. A yard off the pace towards the end? No.
It was a good do and I'm glad I did'nt miss it Can barely lay claim to the title fan these days as I have'nt been to a single game all season. My treatment in the Summer took a lot out of me and I'm waiting to see what happens next. The docs seem to have run into a brick wall so far as treating the Cancer is concerned and things are a bit tough to say the least. Stil, I have made a suggestion to them that they are currently mulling over, but if they say no to that I don't know where we go next. Cemetery probably.
RE: You still working Steve? Yes but in the words of the prophet I am now a reactive rather than a proactive businessman. In other words I don't go looking for work but if work finds me then that's OK. Seems to work quite well. This year is on track to be my best ever. Wierd or what? How do I feel - well if it was'nt for the Oramorph, Morphine Sulphate and lashings of co-proxamol it might be difficult, but hey!, it's not, so they must be working.
RE: You still working Steve? Sounds like you're on some pretty strong pain relief medication. At least the side effects of such drugs can be quite pleasant. Tempted to take in a match this season? If you are make sure I'm not going first. Apparently we've been great in some games, but whenever I go we're bloody rubbish!
