I think the conversion of my brother from L**ds Scum to Barnsley fan is complete...

He's been taking more & more interest over the last couple of seasons & he now wants to go to Blackpool!
Are there any tickets still available?

Yeh mate, there were 500 left at the beginning of the week so get him down. Can't see much more tickets being sold after the Wigan and Scunny performances.

 

It's about time!

Just bought him one over the phone, I'm not even going myself!
It's his 1st ever match at the ripe old age of 31!

It's always satisfying when you convince someone that supporting Barnsley is in their best interests. It's what I imagine it's like for a Jehova's witness.

Alas, the best I've done of late is recruit a couple of fair weather Leeds fans to regard Barnsley as their 'second team'. You know, in that infuriatingly patronising way. Good old Barnsley.

I'm working on my best mate and fiance. Mate wants to come to a match and keeps asking about it but then is always jet setting off places so haven't had chance to take her to one yet. I keep forcing fiance to go and he actually cheered during the penalty shoot out of his own accord (and not 'cos it was finally over!) so I think I'm getting somewhere with him.

I wouldn't have thought conversion was possible on anyone over the age of about 15, so 31 is good going - he can't have been that much of a Leeds fan though! The average Leeds fan lives on some delusional belief that they'll be European Champions within five years or something.

Aye, they do have ideas above their station somewhat. Although in fairness, it does at least come with some justification. It isn't that long ago they made the Champions League semi final. Unlike Wednesday who take delusion to a new level.

My dad converted from a Leeds fan around 30odd. He was a full blown fan too, despite living in Barnsley, he had a season ticket for Leeds since being a child; he was even at a match when my mam went into labour with my brother (to be fair, to him she was a month early so it wasn't to be expected). It all started with Barnsley being a second team, as my mam had a slight interest in them (never been to a match though), and now he hardly takes an interest in Leeds at all. He isn't a STH, but he does have player and no-one is allowed to speak whilst a match is on!!

 

He's followed them from being about 10 years old...

never been to a match though, his interest started waning a few years ago & he started referring to himself as a "football supporter", I've kept at him & he's been taking a keen interest in our results over the last 2 seasons, he was almost as excited as me with the way we performed towards the back end of the season & this morning asked if we had any tickets left, job done...

Does he live in Blackpool/is he going to be there anyway this weekend on his jollies? If not, that's bit extreme (and brave) going to an away match alone as your first ever.

Need help converting a Liverpool fan.. any tips? He's never even been to Liverpool, leave alone see them play. He had a ST at Oakwell these last two years but hasn't renewed this year proclaiming to be a Liverpool fan. Help.

 

He lives in Hoyland,

A couple of his mates are going, he's just worked about 20 days straight so holding a bit of cash & just said "**** it, I'm going to Blackpool, get me a ticket Gaz"!
He's wanting to borrow my shirt as well, he can ****** though!
