if we win and ideally get a money spinning draw in round 5, Im very confident the momentum plus the additional funds generated and hopefully at Flitcrofts disposal, we will stay up. A round 5 tie is generally worth £100k on its own, a plum home draw could add £500k to that. If we lose, I predict we will sign no-one this window as after paying off Hill, we have not a pot to piss in without Patrick digging into his pocket again. Flitcrofts list of targets will all have a pencil line through them as the office manager hasnt got the capacity nor the minerals to sanction paying decent Championship wages. We will be fed the ******** about "loan window opens in a week" come deadline day and we will be lucky if Jon Stead or similar is desperate enough for a game to come to us. Thats how I see it.
There's another 3 league games before the 'loan window' that Flicker now seems to be 'bigging up' opens. We are running out of games. He said after the Leeds game that new signings (2 or 3) were an absolute must due to the thread-bare nature of the squad. Over the new year we lost 4 loanees, Davies & effectively Wiseman. 6 players and lets be honest 4 of them were regulars in the starting 11. We need a centre half, we desperately need a striker (in all honesty 2) & now we need cover for Dawson. P*ssing around waiting for the loan window to open is like waving the white flag and accepting relegation. It's Bonkers ...... but typical of the way the club is being run.
after we sacked hill the Don stated that any signings will be loan signings. unless they can get a player accept the offer of a contract till end of season. Hills compensation has nothing to do with the budget at the club i played professionally for a few years and clubs have a seperate fund pot set aside for the unlikely event as they word it of sacking a manager. it is not classed as part of the playing budget or as part of the club finances budget. Barnsley FC are not stupid and are running the club well within there means, as ive said in previous threads we are not as skint as people think.
Well said. I really hoped we'd have brought in at least one loanee by now, nevermind actually signing someone properly.
I actually don't want any loanees. They rarely work, and I'd rather we bought someone on the cheap or signed an out of contract player.
Tomorrow is a chance to play some squad players like Anwick, Etuhu, Done & mayebe the trialist if he is free. We have a very remote chance of staying up & all efforts need to be going in that direction.
carnt understand either way us waiting until the loan window near enough comes to a end if we are buying or loaning i simply dont see any point in delaying signing them up!!!!! even wednesday signing two today has given them the upper hand
