I think we should stick with Simon Davey for first 12 games.

No, either he is given the job for the season or he goes now.

If we are bottom of the league andhe is replaced after a number of games it gives the new manager a 'get out of jail free' card. 'Not my fault'... 'of course if I'd had a full pre season with the squad' .... yadda yadda yadda.

If he's to go then it must be in the next couple of weeks. If we do it that way there is no hiding place for either SD or his replacement.

I agree but would like to see the club appoint an assistant with some experience to help him not a coach or a Director of Football
but a previous succesfull Manager on a full or part time basis. Note I said as his assistant, there are at least 12 or more currently
unemployed who would take the job.

I would suggest PC start interviews now and involve Davey in the selection process.

another possible problem is, would P.C. risk giving Davey monies to spend if he was given a small number of games to prove himself?

Why Stick with Davey when we all know the scenario

For christs sake , i cannot see why people want the same old same old, no charisma, no tactical awareness, poor fans relations, and wether the pro Davey brigade like it the majority of afans want change with the offer of new hope and new ideas, we simply will not get that with Davey. Part of the reason for lack of atmosphere at the ground was that lifelong fans like me were attending games but not expecting much.
IT WILL BE THE SAME UNDER DAVEY NEXT SEASON, and do we want that.
Stop drawing comparisons with Fergie, wenger etc. all we want is a Experienced manager who is NOT afraid to hold his hands up when he makes mistakes and is not frightened of attending after match interviews.

i agree with some points, and i'll admit he's not my favourite guy and that i don't want him in charge, but who else are we going to get?

we aren't going to get anyone better with the money we're offering and if we do they'll probably not give a toss about the club anyway...

yes, saying "sack him now" makes some sense, but not when we appoint a manager from a League 2 club and everyone moans about it.

I'm with you 100% rowX. It amazes me that there are fans who still want to give him more time (seestars)

if leeds tyke gets his way, our season will start in november

because the first 3 months will have been wasted.
he should have been sacked on monday, unfortunately we have no board and no one with the balls to make a decision

I'd say opinion is divided

Im talking all fans not justs keyboard warriers. I dont think an overwhelming majority rests one way or the other, on balance, Im not sure even if I have a strong opinion either way, Im prepared to see what happens. If he stays and we sign some good players and we start the season with a stronger squad, I'll be happy. If he is sacked and replaced by a manager with a track record of success at Championship level and we start the season with a stronger squad, I'll be happy.

How can you say the majority of fans want change?

I'm not so sure that is the case.

I'd say it's divided too but by a split of about 4/1

For every one person thinking he needs more time i'd say there are 4 that think three years of no improvement is long enough.

This is from opinion given by people at oakwell on matchdays

how many of those 4 would change their mind if we signed a few players and got off to a half decent start?
I assume you conducted your straw poll when it looked like we might go down? Maybe ask them again in a month.

It's not a 'straw poll' its the general opinion i picked up over the course of a season.

Having said that

it's amazing how many people have suddenly decided that the wins against chelsea and liverpool kept him in a job when he really should have been sacked yet before this season the very same people thought he SHOULDNT have been sacked. Suddenly they decided cryne was wrong to keep him
