he's a right footer playingasthe left sidedcentral defender. Played there mysen and its much harder than it seems. I think he'd make a much better right hand sided centre half than Reid.

A lot of people also miss...

That he's one of the very few players we have who'll play with passion.

    some important people missed

that he and Reid would never make a decent championship central defensive pairing this side of 2010.

and people "outside the game" knew it last year.

Thats why when Matt Carbon could be motivated to start we looked much better.

    RE: some important people missed

Kay and Reid are both good squad players but neither has the imposing presence of say a Darren Moore or Ugo Eghiog type player. Far be it for me to be non PC but IMHO BFC's lack of a physical ethnic mix (no, it's not available from B n Q) all over the park is a major reason why we have struggled this season.

I think Kay - just like Morgan- has become a scapegoat for all our problems on the pitch -and like Morgan he has never play regularly alongside a good centre half to help build his confidence and develop his own game. I also think like Morgan he can - and will - go on to another championship team and do better than he did for us. If we had 11 Antony Kays - despite having the ugliest team in the world - we wouldn't be in a relegation battle that's for sure.

We all know criticising players isn't good but it helps get things off your chest.................however, I can name a fair few others both on and off the pitch who have contributed to our downfall before I would even consider having a whinge at AK.

"BFC's lack of a physical ethnic mix"...

Being a "major reason why we have struggled this season"...

    Interesting theory!

We've got a Welsh manager - how more ethnically mixed do you want to get? It is Barnsley after all!

    :D

    if/when he goes

it will to either populate the bench of a mid table championship side for a couple of years from where he may or may not perculate to the first team or to a league 1/2 outfit until he drops off the horizon.

He is not a scapegoat in my eyes he is just one of a pair of currently innadequate centre halves in this division with little to choose betwixt the two.

Perhaps that explains some of the players Davey has brought in!

I think it was suggested the other day...

...that Davey bringing in Mattis, Nyatanga et al was some PC conspiracy to increase the ethnic mix or, at the very least, Davey was only signing them to prove his liberal convictions!

It's that PC brigade - nowt but trouble...

I think what was been suggested at the start of this post was that we're lacking a towering gentleman of African descent, who also happens to be built like a brick sh*thouse, to play at centre-half...
