Perhaps its what's around him that's eventually taking its toll

The 2 full backs were simply awful. Austin does his best but would prefer a bigger lad there

Tonge had a good game, Robbie was poor.

Ozzie was our best defender and has done really well this season.

I thought Reid struggled for pace against a fast striker.

I didn't think Tonge played well yestdi

His positioning, anticipation & overall distribution was very poor. I remember 1 free header where he just headed it straight up in the air. His sliced/miskicked clearances are fast becommimg his trade mark.Williams lacks in confidence & is regularly caught out of postion.

Also- williams is carrying too much weight.. It was clear when he came off yesterday that he was dead on his feet. I think he is the youngest player in the side and should have loads of energy. Lawrie Madden said during the Chesterfield game that it looked like he had a good christmas.

I think anyone would have struggled for pace againt that striker, he had an excellent game!

    And therein lies the problem

with Hayes and Richards as a front pairing.
    They simply aren't a handful.
When players are full of ideas and full of running like their number 40 was yesterday, it pulls defenders out of position and creates chances.

Until Wright came on, there was no nuisance value to our frontline and we were too easily contained.

I would agree he did look a class act. But i suppose that you have to find a way of playing against pace and it just wasn't there yesterday.
When we had Watt on loan I was impressed by the way that he read the game and was able to anticipate what ws going to happen in the game and make the appropriae challenge.

He gave him too much room for a start.

Also, the guy who played number 9 (Timm) dropped off quite a bit and nobody bothered to pick him up.

In contrast, the Walsall defenders were right on top of our lads.
