Have you seen their website? I thought it was a hybrid of the brexit party meeting GB News. Grim beyond words. He's a good lad Brendan May, not chatted to him for a few years now, but he's been involved in some interesting things and has a decent moral compass.
Wouldnt say it's shocking, just a very poorly written 'song' that embarrasses the nation, a bit like 'Rule Brittania'
I mean, it looks like a 10 year old wrote it for a school poetry competition. But what exactly in the lyrics do we object to? Not as bad as being forced to recite the Lord's bloody prayer every morning in assembly at school.
Well aside from the intended rampant jingoism of the thing.... we're certainly not one nation, and we're certainly nowhere near united.
One Britain, One Nation is a bit uncomfortably close to One People, One Nation, One Leader for a start but mainly just the embarrassing lyrics and trying to force our children to be patriotic through a forced sing-along.
The thing that immediately comes to mind is the fact that we are so divided as a nation. And the fact Scotland want out and Northern Ireland is often forgot about (see Brexit). Plus the rampant discrimination that still exists, inequality etc it feels a bit false to teach this to our kids I.e. look kids, Britain is great and we're all in it together etc
There's a Twitter page for it too but apparently they have been blocking people all day which doesn't seem very united and celebratory of differences with love in their heart.
In other news, English counties are being redesignated as oblasts and the UK will be annexing Normandy from France.
Scotland will have already started their summer holidays by then so they don't get to join in the fun either.
Apart from the **** already mentioned in other posts , there’s the line we’ve opened our doors and widened our shores , What utter toss whoever wrote this doesn’t know we got Brexit done and the reasons why it was voted for .
