5-0 on bookings. I also don't think it was a game of two halves - it never looked all over at half time. Ipswich looked frantic and aggressive in the first half. Every player, apart from their useless centre back, looked fired up and out for a scrap. A lot of challenges in the centre of midfield were ignored, which could easily have been stopped for foul play. A bit more protection from the referee and I think the pattern of play could have been broken up a bit. In the end, the ref let a lot go and it was one way traffic - and Ipswich certainly do have some quality to go with that aggression.
Have to say I did think it was all over at half time, their attitude in the last 10mins looked like a beaten side,I do agree however that the game plan looked to have been to soften up Perkins and Butterfield in particular,at one stage it looked as though they were just taking it in turns to knock them around, quite an unusual tactic in todays game.
I imagine Jewel's half-time team talk was something like "right lads, the only way to get anything out of this game is to kick their midfielders out of the game, but I don't want anybody sent off so just take it in turns....."
Re: I imagine Jewel's half-time team talk was something like That's about the size of it I think. Quite why Stockdale stayed on is beyond me too!
Re: I imagine Jewel's half-time team talk was something like I remember Man city doing that to us in the 96-97 promotion season I think. they targeted Marcelle, when a player got booked, they just swapped markers.
