And looked a much more professional outfit than we have for much of the season. We dominated the first half, but chances were few and far between. Brighton have a good defence. The best chance of the game fell to M'Voto. We were all certain he'd score, but he headed wide. Other than that he was terrific, but he should have scored. MOTM went to Dawson, as much for what he's going through at the moment as his performance I would imagine, although he put himself about well. Personally I would have given the accolade to Kennedy who I thought was superb.

The sending off? The ref? I don't really want to talk about it, I just want to punch the ref in the face. We face a team who dive, foul and cheat for 90 minutes, a number of their players committing multiple cynical fouls and it's us that finish the game with 10 men. I'm not sure Etuhu made even one foul in the entire game. He did, however, look extremely comfortable and assured at right back.

Charlton lost, so it's not over. We're a point closer to safety. The fact that Millwall and Yeovil won makes little difference really.

Charlton losing is big, we're still right in it and the defence was the easily the most assured it's looked all season, Nyatanga and M'Voto solid and Etuhu was excellent, Kennedy also did well.

Brighton were there for the taking and I think with 11 men in last 20 we would have got the winner but shocking refereeing cost us, first Etuhu yellow wasn't even a foul never mind a booking, though there's no arguing about the second.

Pleased with the performance but dissapointed with how the game finished for us.

thanks for that report.... who would have as MOTM

    and was actually awarded it.

TBH I was not expecting owt today

But I must say that a run of 3 unbeaten and 7 from 9 is good going, Nick a point off Burnley and a win at Bolton and we are looking well good.

Dawson was awarded MOTM Dragon, personally I'd have given it any one of Etuhu, M'Voto and Nyatanga.

The ref was shocking, Uloa got booked in first half, then 2 minutes later he got tackled by Dawson and kicked out at him and legged him up, it was a yellow card every day of the week but he bottled it, Uloa went on to make 17503 fouls during the game but stayed on. Etuhu 2 fouls (one definitely wasn't) 2 yellows.

hmmm was that a tactical MOTM ??

if so it tells me that the Club and Danny believe in Dawson, and as such we all should go along with that unless of course its proven beyond all reasonable doubt. Sorry to bring up the "Spot" thing, but to me from the reports I am reading of the Lads performance, well I hope he is telling us he is clean from that.

I pretty much agree with that Jay. Kennedy was my MoM too and I still don't know how M'voto missed with that header.

Their full back should have been booked for his first foul on McClaughlin. Then sent off for his second.

Etuhu should not have even been booked for the foul that got him his first yellow.

I hope that those people who have come on here week after week slagging Kennedy are prepared to acknowledge that he can do a job in this league. He is no world beater and is most likely at his level a league below, but scapegoating is a sport on this board, and if he makes one mistake the vultures attack.

Your post summed up the whole game exactly. Except that I would have shouted expletives at the referee. Depending upon his reaction, punching would still have been an option.

Injustice on the football field usually passes me by, but where the ref has no understandable critieria for why he books players it makes yer blood boil!

Yup agree with everyone here, we played very well against a decent team. The inconsistency of the ref was very frustrating. The two challenges by their fullback in the first half should both have been bookings, yet only the second was deemed worthy by the ref. Similarly the second challenge by their big forward in the first half was a nailed on booking every time. His first was for having a pop at the ref I thought. Ultimately a point won given the circumstances. Hope Burnley are jittery, if they are we could take them on Tuesday.

I thought collectively we were as good as we can be today. Just lacking that little bit of luck or invention. Shame really as Brighton looked our of sorts an unable to live with us.
