By a football agent (not theirs) that both Hammill and Brownhill were off to Bristol as the wages on offer would blitz anything we could offer - bit suspicious cos they were under contract at time but wtfdik about that - anyway, it would appear Adam has gone with his heart/football reasons as I'm sure that whatever we're paying him he could earn a lot more elsewhere. Massive credit to the lad.
I was also told that Hammill to Brizzle was a done deal from a similar source. That's why I was so open about the fact I didn't think we had a cat in hell's chance of signing him! Brilliant news this.
I never understood why Hammill was going to Bristol city. Except for more money. Johnson didn't want him at all. Was Patrick who got him back in. And now it seems Adam has repaid him. Good lad. Unlike Johnson Adam has repaid the faith shown in him by the club that gave him a chance.
Exactly. Really think if Isgrove and Fletcher sign back on, and with a couple of shrewd signings we could make a real go at the championship. Early optimism says Mid Table. Bristol City? Hopefully rock bottom.
Ah, but you didn't go round telling anyone & everyone he was going to Bristol as far as I remember. Others did and, personally, I love it when those who believe they're ITK get it so wrong.
I would prefer to have Fletcher back on a permanent deal. It may take him longer than a half - a full season to get used to the demands. Every successful loan deal we make we need to try and get them on a longer deal, whether it's another loan or permanent.
I don't get why people think that. I'm sure it was Patrick who was instrumental in bringing Hammill in, but why on earth would a League 1 manager not want a player of Hammill's quality? I went to Hammill's first game. York at home in the JPT. Hammill was cramping up after about 47 minutes. He spent as much time in that second half on the deck and stretching out his legs as he did playing football. He really should have come off, he was risking injury, but Johnson kept him on for the entire game. He did that because he knew Hammill had more quality than anyone else on the pitch and he knew keeping him on the field gave us a better chance of the winning the game. Hammill created the first and scored the winner. He played every match for Johnoson for which he was available. Just because a manager isn't responsible for bringing a player to the club, it doesn't mean he doesn't want him. Johnson would have said exactly the same as the rest of us if we were offered Adam Hammill, "Yes ******* please."
