It was absolutely atrocious. No effort, no skill, painful to watch. Tonight was nothing like that. It was quite enjoyable. We scored four goals and really should have got more. Nothing wrong with our attacking play at all. Some decent passing, a few nice bits of skill, some excellent balls into the box, some good finishing (and some bad), and plenty of passion and desire from the whole team. Defensively we're shambolic. The back four are all at sea, they get zero protection from the midfield, we may as well not have one, Morecambe tore us apart time and again in the second half. A half decent Championship team will just fill their boots. A good one might get double figures. It's genuinely frightening.
I think that Liam Lindsay is key to the strengthening of the defence. Pinnock and Pearson have potential to step up, but will need time. Hope young Liam gets fit soon, along with McGeehan, who should steel up our midfield defensively. Impressed with Ugbo and Moncur as attacking threats and nice to see Bradshaw get some confidence from two goals and a number on target as well.
That's exactly how I saw it. For me we need an experienced CB alongside Gus for now. Just like Long shored us up 18 months ago. I think Williams & Moncur look great going forward, but need to work on defensive duties, making decisions who is going forward. A lot of positives attacking wise, although we definitely need two more strikers. Payne isn't up to it & I'm not totally convinced about Bradshaw at Championship level.
good post yea spot on , we need a holding tackling midfielder and centre backs look all at sea . good game though , liked it when gus and Williams crashed into hoardings got up and carried on . lots of positives though coyr .
We need an experienced CH to come in as captain. Unfortunately the plan won't allow it due to the lack of resale value of these players. I noticed Mike Williamson from Newcastle signed for Oxford on a twelve month deal. He might have done a job for us, but at 33 there's no chance. That's why the club didn't really want to offer Roberts a new contract at 27.
