Im sure we would not have seen such a pathetic display yesterday for one thing and secondly im sure even he would have strengthened in January - AND we would still be watching attacking, entertaining football to boot. Instead we are stuck with a manager now for however long they have given him who has given us boring snore draws, just luckily pipping games, or a good hammering. I dont think davey is/was the man for the job and once again we have gone for the cheap option. The signings he fetched in the last transfer window proved he cant see the problems or fetch the right ones in. With the exception of Ronnie i dont rate any of the other at all. Knight has spent the last 2 games on the bench, Mccann is not better than what we had and will only hold back Tonge etc..., Reid unimpressive again yesterday and again no better than what we had. We we screaming out for cover at CH and not one was fetched in and look what happened yesterday. Also playing nads upfront on his own and Robbie Williams in CM again pathetic. Yesterday we just rolled over and died in the most inept performance ive seen at Oakwell for a long time. I hope Davey proves me and many others wrong but at the moment i cant see any other way than down!
Sacking Ritchie was either a very brave or a very stupid thing to do. If it is to be a brave one then he needs to back Davey with some cash. Personally I can't see it though.
I agree I was far from happy when Ritche was sacked and now im not too pleased about Daveys appointment! Time for a new chairman?
I don't think the Chairman has come up with this himself so I don't see how that would make any difference.
Why don't we see what happens in the transfer window! if we continue to get the points like we have we will be safe in this division and who knows who will be in/out after tomorrow?
The chairman has good points and bad points. Those signings which you are referring to had little to do with Davey and were orchestrated by the chairman. The fact is that this and the appointment of SD as new manager suggests that Shepherd doesn't have a particularly good football brain. However, the fact that we are able to make signings at all is largely down to him, we will apparently be debt free by the end of the season and we are now safe from the threat of administration.
Let's face it, Mr Davey is unlikely to get much cash to spend It won't be amajor risk in that respect.
But, how will we remain debt free, and therefore safe from administration AND at the same time be a top promotion pushing side in the championship with an average gate of 9500, where is the revenue going to come from ?? This logic is what Andy Ritchie was using when he got slated on this board for being unambitious after comments on radio about the Reds propects.... remember....
Debt free by the end of the season? Are you sure? Don't confuse breaking even (or making a profit) with being debt free. At the last count long term debts were around the £5 million mark.
