For sacking him because he said we would never get back into the Premiership without a very nrich backer to come in? What he said is now what is being pedalled as our lot. Yet Ritchie was slaughtered by the fans and Cryne himself for saying it. Not a comment on his ability as a manager or Cryne`s as the owner, just a musing!
The story I heard was that Ritchie was instructed to sign some new players before the end of the transfer window,a few days before it closed he was asked who he was fetching in,when the answer was 'nobody'...he got the sack.
i cant remember AR getting slated by the fans, he said what any normal thinking right minded person could see.... that counts out 95% of this BBs membership i guess.
I think Old Shep wanting to play football manager had more than just a slight impact in Richie getting the chop..
in my opinion he didn't get sack for stating we'd never get back in premiere although it was'nt a really smart thing to say to the board or fans. he got sack because he said he couldn't improve the playing staff which i believe would have seen us relegated as although they had heart were just not good enough for the championship, i can't recall the fans slaughtering him to be honest i though the fans really apreciated what he had done for bfc but realised he could'nt improve any further and if he'd stayed i believe we would have got relegated. as far as the current manager i don't recall him saying we will never get in the prem. just as things are now in the current situ with rich owners it's hard to keep up expenditure wise. unless he said sommat and i've missed it
I would say thats not true. I seem to remember Mr Cryne explaining at a meeting around September of the season he got sacked that Chopra and McPhail had agreed to sign/resign for us providing we got promotion to the championship. After we got promoted at Cardiff, Cryne instructed Richie to get the signatures after the game. He opted to go out on the lash with the players rather than completing the transfers and Ridsdale jumped in that very weekend and signed them for Cardiff. I think the feeling was his days were numbered even then.
I thought it was the job of the board to sort out the contracts, not the manager ? Ritchie was not out on the lash every day was he?
Yeah I don't see why Cryne couldn't have sorted it. Ritchie had just got us promoted so deserved to go out and get completely wasted.
I was told a very similar story by an ex player who was part of the team who won promotion and was still in the team when Ritchie was sacked.
Presumably the board had sorted as they just required signatures. Don't understand the question. He didn't sign the players up afterwards as he'd agreed to and that evening they were wined and dined by Ridsdale and became Cardiff players.
It's called team bonding. It's called celebrating a sense of joint achievement. You saying our manager had no right going out and celebrating promotion?????
Really? Not unheard of http://www.nufcblog.org/2012/01/par...ing-binge-before-toon-cup-crash/#.T2ZeYdRYCSM
really? not what a player on the team bus told me. the board was in the same city as our manager. too much trouble for them to attend a contract signing was it?
I've heard that story before And it's utter ballacks as Chopra had left the club 12 months previous. Why the hell he'd be hanging about in Cardiff after our play-off victory is anyone's guess. Particularly as the the team bus with Ritchie on it headed back to Barnsley after the match. Since when did you do business with ex-players directly after a play-off final? And why would they be around for it to happen? Total and utter ****. But I think you can imagine what I think of your source after what he put me through.
Have you edited this post since it was first on here? Sure it said something about him missing his opportunity ? I think I am going nuts!!!
